We have an LGR8648 gas dryer. When you start the dryer, it heats up just fine. At some point (after 15-20 minutes, it seems) the burner goes out and never comes back on. Is there a thermal sensor or something similar that may have gone bad?

You have defective gas valves, they are a very high failure item on gas dryers, chance them both not just one

THAT IS THE GLOW COIL IGNIGHTER JUST BEFORE IT GOES OFF THE GAS VALVE SHOULD HAVE OPENED TO MAKE FLAME SHOULD BE 24 VOLTS AC TO THE GAS VALVE THEN IF SO VALVE IS BAD IF NOT CONTROL CIRCUIT HAS PROBLEM MAYBE ONE OF THE SAFTYS

The pilot light lights? Then goe's back out? There is two stiff wires right in front of the flame. One of them is an ignightor, and the other one a thermocoupler. Or may just be one. That is the ignightor and thermocoupler. The thermocoupler is what detects that the pilot light lit. Its a saftey feature. It makes sure that there is fire before it turns on the main gas. So it wont blow up. It gets a film built up on it from the gas. Take some real fine sandpaper, or steel wool and clean it real good.
Then try again. It should work. If not then it needs to be replaced

replace the 2 black solenoids on the gas valve ..after heat up they sometimes will go bad and burner will not reignite even though the ignitor glows

there is a heat sensor with a little window mounted on the side of the round tube it maybe bad it closes when the ignt glows red
