My sound is not working, it says i need a mixer device?

It says "There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware." I have tried to find this, but I can't. Even if I did I wouldn't know what to add to the hardware. Someone please help, I listen to a lot of music on this laptop and if I don't have sound, I can't.

This is the active mixer error message... --------------------------- Volume Control --------------------------- There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel,...

NO active mixer is one of the volume control, your sound card or your audio port is not installed. try to install again your motherboard installer and locate for the audio of it of for the soundcard. Then after that restart and when the sounds come then you successfully installed it

Hallo, after update windows xp my volume control will not open simply because is says there is not active mixer devices available. and then it talls me that i need to install the mixer device at the add...

If you are intrested in uninstalling the update the you have 2 options.
I aint sure about what the active mixer is. Must be a driver malfunction or something.

You can go to the laptop manufacturer website and download the driver for the sound card and check if it works otherwise

Go to Control Panel -> Add/ Remove programs -> In the top you wil have an option which says show updates. It will show all the updates and you can uninstall the latest windows XP update.

else

Go to Start->All Programs -> Accesories -> System tools -> System restore and restore to a date earlier than 1 week.

This should help

Audio problem

You either have the wrong driver installed or a conflicting driver is present. Go to control panel->system->device manager-> look for the yellow exclamation point, double click on it and follow those instructions. If that does not work. Right click on the device, REMOVE, then reboot and let it refind it.

It about mixer device

that is a motherboard problem. The good news is that you can add a sound card to your system and disable the built in sound for relatively low cost.

If you find this helpful please rate fixya.
