The problem may be dust in the headphone jack

There is a link from the headphone jack to the microprocessor IC(the computer within your receiver). If this link "sees" that a headphone jack has been inserted, it will prevent the unit from providing audio to the speaker connections. Any issues in this link(above), can cause this issue, not necessarily the jack itself. It is a very complicated system, completely unlike the stereo receivers of old. The headphone jack, in those days, was merely a mechanical connection, open or closed. We are in a much more complex decade....

check that wire and fuse again and try to reset and try

There are three modes (Auto, DTM, and PCM) on the input mode switch, on the main unit, selected by repeatedly pressing the input mode switch.
However, if you have already depressed the Analog button in, on the main unit you have predetermined the mode as analog.
On the remote, the INPUT MODE switch combines toggles for 5 choices, [Auto, PCM, DTS, Analog,
Ext. input]
My guess is that either the input mode switch on the main unit and/or the remote are toggled to analog.

Very important you have run system set up menu it configures your receiver with inputs analog or digital, speaker size, input, room correction etc Different input modes can be selected for the different input sources.
The selected input modes for the separate input sources are stored in
the memory.
q AUTO (auto mode)
In this mode, the types of signals being input to the digital and
analog input jacks for the selected input source are detected and
the program in the AVR-3300’s surround decoder is selected
automatically upon playback. This mode can be selected for all
input sources other than PHONO, MD/TAPE and TUNER.
The presence or absence of digital signals is detected, the signals
input to the digital input jacks are identified and decoding and
playback are performed automatically in DTS, Dolby Digital or PCM
(2 channel stereo) format. If no digital signal is being input, the
analog input jacks are selected.
w PCM (exclusive PCM signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when PCM signals are
being input.
e DTS (exclusive DTS signal playback mode)
Decoding and playback are only performed when DTS signals are
being input.
r ANALOG (exclusive analog audio signal playback mode)
The signals input to the analog input jacks are decoded and played.
t EXT. IN (external decoder input jack selection mode)
The signals being input to the external decoder input jacks are
played without passing through the surround circuitry Your remote is searching for inputs because you did not properly run system set up!!! Here is a link to your manual [PDF]

If your tv is putting out mono you will only get the center and sub speakers. This can be because the tv is only mono, or the output is set to mono in a menu of the tv. If you have cable or sat run the digital audio out to you receiver; it usually sound better that way anyhow. Set your receiver to Dolby mode for best sound.

You need to get the manual and do some reading first. I couldn't find the AVR-1804 but the AVR-1803 is avaiable. It should be close enough to get you through connection and setup.
