Cursor working but keyborad does'nt tried num lock, turning on and off and recovery, i cant type in myt password to get into the laptop, what should i do. was working perfect last night

Try plugging in an external keyboard so you can access the system. Once you are in the system, see if there are any errors in device manager and update drivers if needed. If it is not a driver issue, you may need to replace the keyboard.

Erratic Keyboard typing on laptop

If you are getting erratic keyboard typing (unexpected cursor positioning), verify keyboard driver is up to date. If it is current, remove the keyboard from the laptop (see other sites for directions, but should be easy). Once removed, clean the ribbon contacts using q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. Dry with clean q_tip and reinstall. This may solve the problem without having to purchase new keyboard

Problem with spacebar key

I don't quite understand why this would happen after pluggin in a USB mouse - but I've seen it numerous times after a liquid has been spilled on a keyboard.

Sounds like you need to replace the keyboard. Best way to test this is to plug in an external usb keyboard and see if you can type normally on it.

If the laptop keyboard exhibits this behavior, and the external keyboard doesn't - you should replace the laptop keyboard.

What is wrong with an uncontrollable cursor?

When they put the palm rest back together it looks like they did not insert the ribbon cable end properly to the motherboard plug in, which would explain the erratic behavior. The laptop will need to be dismantled and checked.

Keyboard problems

Is the keyboard flexible cable the same pin as the original keyboard? If yes and you are sure the new keyboard is okay, then you can change the language to the preferred language e.g US English, change its position to the first and make it referred. Its should work. You can also check online if there is any keyboard or input driver which when installed can be of help.

Cursor on my keypad jumps around

If your cursor moves erratically on the screen (for example, if it jumps around the screen, moves at varying speeds, or selects items on its own), perform the following steps:

1. Clean the surface of the touchpad with a dry, soft cloth to remove grease, sweat, moisture, or other liquids.

2. Adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad:.

a. Click the Start button and click Control Panel.

b. Click Printers and Other Hardware.

c. Click Mouse.

d. When the Mouse Properties window appears, click the Pointer Options tab.

e. Under Select a pointer speed:, click to move the slider bar closer to Slow.

f. Click OK.

g. Check to see if the touch pad still behaves erratically.

3. If the touchpad still caused the cursor to behave erratically, attach an external mouse to your computer and restart your computer. Use the external mouse to see if your cursor still moves erratically.

4. After connecting an external mouse, uninstall the touchpad driver from the Device manager listed under the "mice and other pointing devices" category and restart the Computer.

5. Download the Touchpad driver compatible to the Operating System installed on the Computer from the manufacturer's site and install it after restarting the Computer.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

English language support on laptop with German Keyboard

The easiest solution will be to locate a replacement laptop keyboard for that model. they arent hard to replace and usually cost between $40 and $80. I would web search HP Spare parts Third party is usually cheaper. Keyboards are pretty common replacements on laptops due to wear an tear. Most are replaced using a small phillips screwdriver. Its likley you can find removal instructions on the web as well (if they dont come packaged with the keyboard.
