My TV is Hitachi model : 60SBX78B I did open the TV from the back little cap with the hols, and i saw 5-6 little green lights on and clicking noise - like the TV it start working , 2-3 sec. after one more green light starts and everything stops , one red light is flashing only. This is what i can see .Any solutions what i can do ?
This may be caused by convergence IC's being defective and some resistors around them not being the proper values.
I have repaired another Hitachi model Rear Projection TV that would start up and click click click and flashing red light, then replaced the convergence IC's STK392 series and a few burned up resistors and good as new :)
You will have to be handy with a soldering iron to complete this task, and there is a kit you can buy also http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/60sbx78b/ it comes with everything you need and even teach you how to solder if your not already good at it.
Hope that helps
Christopher

I would check for burnt resistors as the 150s are interchangeable with the 110s however in alot of hitachis I have seen resistors blow after upgradeing to the higher wattage ICs. I Usually switch out the convergence resistors whenever I go to a higher wattage IC just to be sure. If you need more help let me know.

It is the lamp, you have to change the lamp, it's in the left side of the tv, have a litter compartiment, opened and take out two screw and take out the change and change it. you have to buy a new one. go to google.com and put the model of the tv and find the price of the lamp.

hey techman - when you say shorted do you mean shorted in the IC or where the ic solders to the board?

You likely have a bad lamp. It could also be a bad lamp driver, but I'm betting a lamp change will solve your problem. Buy an original Sony lamp only; the aftermarket replacements are cheaper but you get what you pay for and they can cause problems. Please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
