Question about Hitachi FDX Series 43FDX10B 43" Rear Projection Television
I hear a chirping noise and the front power light flashes in sequence to it when turning on the TV, and TV will not work. When peaking behind TV through holes in the back, one green light (on circuit board) stays green and another flashes to the chirping, too. this occurs at 1 second intervals. Hitachi model 43FDX10B.
I had the same problem with my 46" Hitachi TV. We left it unpluged for a couple of days (literature says at least 4 hours) Pluged it back in, held in on the AVX and power button at the same time, this puts it into self diagnostic mode. Error codes should appear on the TV screen, then it should instruct you to hit any key to continue. Press the AVX button and it should put your TV back to normal. I suggest however, that you download the specific manual off the internet for your TV. I got my manual from an electronic forum site (http://www.eserviceinfo.com). My TV model is Hitachi 46EX3B. Hope this helps.

Theres a short somewhere in the set. Most likly the HOT is shorted or the vertical IC has caused this in the past. In one case I had shorted convergence IC cause this symptom.. This set is solid state and there are no user serviceable parts inside so please call a trained tech to assist you with this problem Good Luck

Hey techman - when you say shorted do you mean shorted in the IC or where the ic solders to the board?

The "green light flashing to the chirping" circuit may be defective.
Not a basic diagnosis--service literature and/or knowledge of each green light circuit will be needed.Possible shop repair.
