I have An HP Compaq Presario Laptop and Am Getting Ready To Sell It. In The Process I Wanted To Restore My Computer To Factory Settings. I Went Through The Recovery Manager And Chose Microsoft Restore And It Says That The Restore Failed Because It Was Older Than 60 Days. I have no idea what to do and can no longer access my desktop. Someone please help me!!
NO OS stated, why post lacking this 1 KEY FACT??????
what year is this PC, CQ62-215dx (as old as 2009)
sell it no OS. or
2006 is the magic year when F11 was INVENTED by HP.
knowing this one fact, makes RECOVEY easy. (hdd not bad)
HDD not slammed with MS disks..
the 2009 PC the F11 key does work just like your sevice manaul tells you, clear as day , on page.112
if the HDD was never changed, or is not BAD
and for sure not fresh installed from MS media. the F11 key works.

you only said ". I Went Through"
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN. please.
USING WHAT METHOD.?
IF USING MEDIA DID you boot to it or run it live from windows OS unstated;.... ????????????
see we can not guess what you did, nor how you did it or what media was used. and matters big time.
I advise u to make total format to u hard disk drives and make it with out system
SOURCE: I am trying to restore
If your restore partition is ruined you will need either borrow an operating cd from a friend with same OS or buy the cd from HP. If its still under warrenty HP will reimage the hard drive free.
or
If your Compaq Presario has major issues, restoring it to factory defaults may be the best course of action.
There are a number of situations when completely restoring a computer to its factory settings is the best solution, including resolving virus infections and corrupt operating system files.
Back up all of your user data to a USB thumb drive, external hard drive or other device.
The restore process will destroy all of your data, so this is vital to do.
Turn on your computer and open your CD or DVD drive.
Place the restore CD that came with your Presario into the drive and restart your PC. If you do not have a restore CD, you can contact Compaq to order one.
Allow the computer to boot up from the restore CD.
You will see a series of messages guiding you through the restoration process, as well as several warnings that all data on the computer will be erased.
Continue the restoration process, and follow the prompts as needed.
You may need to locate the license key for your version of Windows; that key should be located on a label on the top of the computer case.
Hope this helps
