Hello,

When the Garmin shows the picture of a computer, it means that the Nuvi is in mass storage mode. This mode is used to load software and map updates to the Nuvi and will usually go into this mode when connected to a computer or improper USB cable.
If this is occurring when it is connected to the vehicle power cable, chances are that the vehicle power cable is the wrong one.
You may also want to contact Garmin Tech Support for assistance.

Garmin shows picture computer

The computer picture shows if the usb cable connects to a computer. If the picture shows when the usb socket is connected to the cigar lighter power supply, it could be that the socket in the Garmin has got damaged. I had a Nuvi 200 like this where the socket had broken away from the circuit board inside, but the repair was difficult, involving micro-soldering!

Garmin 1300 freezes when usb cable is plugged in to the computer. It only shows the word GARMIN and the little picture of the gps plugged into computer.

This is normal. The satnav is meant to freeze when connected to your computer. This is because when it's connected to the computer it's usually for updating information on the satnav and that wouldn't be possible if the satnav was active.

I have my Garmin Nuvi 750 connected to my computer to charge. How can I tell when it is charged? The screen shows the word Garmin with an up arrow and a picture of a computer connected to the Garmin.

When it is plugged into the computer you cannot see if it is charged. You would have to unplug it from your computer after a few hours to let it charge, have it start up and then check the number of batter bars on the top right corner of your screen

When it is plugged in only shows a picture and a picture of computer that shows system been connected to it.

Nuvi will show a picture of unit when plugged in to computer, its charging, connected this way is a slow charge.

You also use this way to update any maps or firmware for your unit.

If you have a new Nuvi.... and you are looking to set it up, you must first register to Garmin to unlock the maps its free.

Go to www.MyGarmin.com your unit will be detected and map unlocks will proceed

Uploading pictures into a Garmin GPS

Hi, you should be able to copy photos from your PC via the USB cable. I saved mine onto the SD card. You can also access your Garmin as if it was a hard drive using "My Computer". Just click on the "Garmin" drive, navigate to the appropriate folder (I think there's a folder called Garmin, then a Photos sub-folder). Just delete the photos you don't want.

Garmin 660 wont operate on power lead

Are you using the Garmin AC adapter or the Garmin car adapter? Using the wrong cable and the Garmin will think that you are trying to connect to a computer. Not all USB cable are alike.

When connected to your computer it thinks that you want to upload or donwload information.
