It could be a problem with the mini USB plug on the charger. If it doesn't go in far enough it will cause that problem. Try pushing it in further. If that doesn't work you'll need to get a Garmin power cord.

This is normal. The satnav is meant to freeze when connected to your computer. This is because when it's connected to the computer it's usually for updating information on the satnav and that wouldn't be possible if the satnav was active.

Sounds like the unit is recognizing that you are plugging in the device to the computer. If this issue just recently happened, try to restore the unit back to factory default state.
