I have a kenmore elite electric washer Model #229 42 101 CM 4905520 the spin will not spin on ocassions and it only hums and the tub does not turn. when it does spin does not spin all the water out the...

    Hi.

From description it looks like a drain problem. Check drain filter, drain hose and pressure switch.

Check motor, motor control unit, drain system and pressure switch. Start checking from drain system and pressure switch. The pressure switch determines water level. The timer checks the output from pressure switch to decide that drain is complete and advance cycle to spin.

Check also the position of the drain hose. Ensure that the height is as specified by the manual or you get siphoning and drain does not end.

Here a page about drain/spin problem.

Start checking drain and pressure switch, then test the other parts.

If you need parts see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Porter cable 3hp 130psi air compressor when the pressure drops th e compressor will not kick on to build the pressure back up we have replaced the switch 3 times did not help either time no model # visible

I am taking a guess that you have a model C2002. Did you replace the on/off switch or the pressure switch? It sounds like a bad pressure switch which is item #111, part #N003307SV on the following parts diagram. Here is the link to the diagram.

I have a paragon 8145-20 defrost timer. do you wire the compressor to the timer? I cant seem to find a wiring diagram on how to wire this correctly

Link below has wiring diagrams and wiring manuals for 240V 8145-20
    http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html#defrost

I am not expert installing defrost timers.
According to information from Paragon, 8145 is for hot gas defrosting. 8140 series are time initiated, and pressure-or-temperature terminated.
Wiring diagram does not show compressor wired to timer.

    The cycle works like this:
Timer is running but defrost is not switched ON.
    Fan is ON.
Timer switches ON and activates defrost cycle.
Fan turns OFF. Hot gas valve turns ON for defrosting.
Cycle limit switch is temperature or pressure sensitive.
Cycle limit switch reaches trip point, timer switches OFF.
Hot gas valve turns OFF. Fan turns ON.
So fan is off during defrost cycle.
Hot gas valve turns ON when timer switches ON.
Timer is switched OFF by pressure-or-temperature limit switch.
