You or who ever worked on your tool last didn't replace the lock out spring. I see this all the time. Its a little spring that holds the lock out down so the safety can engage. I bet when u try to fire the gun upside down the safety doesn't go all the way back.

I suggest you remove the manifold from the compressor and try run it like that. It seems like the compressor is running against a dead head and just stalling the motor, which then starts to overheat. If this solves the problem you need to look into the regulator to see if there is a blockage or valve that is stuck closed. If the regulator is not the fault, look at the outlet valve to see that it is not stuck closed. Here are diagrams of the related parts. There are virtually no spares available for this machine bar a few seals etc.

I can't see the make on that image Albert, but just use Google make model manual or make model oil capacity Crankcase oil capacity is around 16 fluid ounces, and there should also be a sight glass. Craftsman 1.5 manual here ..

There are several reasons for a compressor to run too hot, including high compression ratio, high return gas temperatures, and lack of external cooling. High compression ratios are the result of either lower than normal suction pressures or higher than normal discharge pressures.

There is no reset button for the compressor, if the compressor won't start check the valve is not open, also check the outlet power, Shut the drain valve at the bottom of the tank if it's open

Yes use pipe thread seal. The center is turned to open and close no need to remove plug. If is frozen replace.
