Printer does not recognize color cartridge for my HP OfficeJet 7410

After inserting a brand new color cartridge I get an error message to remove cartridge and reinsert. I've made sure the tape is off. Sometimes a second message tells me the cartridge is not compatible with this printer. It is the exact same cartridge from Staples. Is there something I can try without first going to a repairman. I am having the same problem. I just put a new color cartridge in my HP OfficeJet 7410 Printer and it's giving me an error message. Can you help us?

This was not a solution- it was clearly identified that the cartridge is a HP cartridge. I have the same problem... I bought two separate HP cartridges from Sam's Club for $$$ and neither of them work. Not very good publicity for HP.

Are you sure it's a genuine HP cartridge? Sometimes remanufactured cartridges aren't recognized by the printers. HP and others make them so that they have a chip inside that ensures only new genuine cartridges can be used. Try a new HP and see if that solves the problem. If you've already tried that one, then make sure the contacts in the printer are clean. If you still have a problem, then I'd say try a new printer!

Error message says check color print cartridge. We've removed and reinstalled several times and the message is still there.

Remove the color cartridges and insure that the spring in not loose. Also look at the printer circuit in the back for pin holes.

The HP 99 cartridge is used if you would like to print photos. The HP 99 replaces the HP 96 (black) cartridge in your printer. The HP 99 cartridge has black, photo magenta, and photo cyan inks in it. When you pair this with the cyan, magenta, and yellow in your HP 97 (color) cartridge you have the full set of photo colors represented.

Message says Remove and check color cartridge. We

The cartridge cavity in the printer may need cleaning.... perhaps a colorful "spit wad" is lodged in the cavity.

If the printer will allow, run a "clean nozzle" utility from the printer or computer.

Hope this helps!

Receiving a "Insert color cartridge" error message

You hit it! Go out and buy a new cartridge. Most likely you got a bad one.

My HP Officejet 7410 xi is showing an error message that states "Remove and check color cartridge". I have tried replacing the old cartridge with two separate new ones and I still get the error message.

Apparently, there is a known problem with this printer series (7310 / 7410). When you replace the cartridge, there is a metal wire that keeps the cartridge in place. This wire comes away from the wall as you slide the cartridge in and makes a hole in the ribbon cable.

Unfortunately, there is not much that you can do, other than to contact HP. Hopefully, your printer is still under warranty.

HP 7410 printer displays error ''remove and check colour cartridge

I think that spring must have gotten loose that holds the cartridge in place, right hand side, put it back where it belongs, might want to compare with the other, black cartridge side.  Good Luck!

Repeated error message

Very Simple, Probably...

Just remove the cartridge and see if the metal spring clip has broken away from the right wall. If it has, inspect the gold colored circuit board at the back of the cartridge bay...there is probably a hole or dent where the clip slammed into it.

If you have these symptoms, go to HP, and go to the chat support window, describe your problem, and they will send you a replacement printer.

It's exactly what I did.
