I have changed elements and had an electrician out to check why the unit only heats to 273 degrees. The electrician assures wiring is correct; and changing elements has the same results. It acts lik some type of thermostat problem. Sears came out and said all is well.
Any ideas? I am ab out to replace the unit with gas to get spme heat.

Be sure the control is set to F* and not C*.

Just get a dryer vent tube the flexible ones and some aluminum tape and that will do it, I had the same problem and thats how the gas company told me to do it and it works excelent.

the glass top replacemnt is a pretty straightfoward task, a matter of unscrewing one and repalcing it wiht anew one. after ordering new top its a matter of lookin g at eh new top to see which screws would need to be removed from old. hardest part about job will be youll need to do disconnect the downdraft from the venting ,and pull unit up from the counter inwhich it is installe.< not difficult but cumbersome and awkward to manuver. check abd verify full model and serail number and cal manufacture for correct part umber. may cast anywhere fom 200-400 dollars depending on model

Are you sure the breaker didn't trip on one side? If one leg of the 220 is out, the lights and controls will appear to work, but the elements will not heat up. Make sure you have 220 to the appliance. It's also possible that you pulled a wire off somehow when changing the broil element.
