Jenn Air cooktop JED8430ADB not heating, fan & knob lights work?

I have a Jenn Air cooktop JED8430ADB which has sudenly stopped working (heating). What's weird the downdraft fan works & the knob to turn on the burners light up but not the burners. I checked the fuses in the electric panel & they seem to be fine. Unit is keept in excellent condition & never had any problems with it. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Some times a breaker can be partially tripped and not visible . You should try turning the breaker off and on several times.

always unplug electricity before attempting to repair on any electrical appliance

Just get a dryer vent tube the flexible ones and some aluminum tape and that will do it, I had the same problem and thats how the gas company told me to do it and it works excelent.

SOURCE: Our downdraft fan switch broke

There is no fuse on the unit. I suspect your house circuit is blown. If not, then a wire may have burnt off. Hope this helps!

You can get a new cooktop surface from Maytag/Jennair for $229. It is a pain however to replace it. Where is the crack in your cooktop and does that crack pass directly through a heating element? If not, then you may be able to repair it. I broke the corner off mine, and then dropped the piece (now 5 pieces). I was able to bond them back together and you really can't tell it was ever broken. But, it takes some work.

NO METAL KNOB FOR THAT MODEL COZ IF USE METAL EVERY TIME U USE IS HOT THATS WHY DESIGN FOR PLASTIC,MUCH BETTER TO U REMOVE THE KNOBS AFTER U TUNN ON THE HOBS TO LESS MELT THEN RETURN IT IF U TUNR IT OR ADJUST.

I will be helping you today.You have to lift the unit up from the counter use some boards across the counter to support it and remove the screws from around the unit under the glass lip. On some units there are screws under the vent grille also. After removing the screws lift the whole top off.Thats all you have to do.

The cook top is connected to 220 volts. In the house wiring there are two legs each 115 volts. Usually they connect with a red wire, black wire and the third a neutral. It is likely that at the connection to the unit or at the electrical box a connection has failed or the 220 volt circuit breaker has failed on one leg. A qualified electrician needs to do the repair!

the unit doesnt have any internal fuses. you have a house fuse blown or circuit breaker that tripped. the fan switch can be found online or from your local parts house and make sure you get the clips to hold it to the mounting tabs.
next time you get ready to work on it, just make sure and turn off the power first as you will touch the metal terminals to the frame again.

Knob not working and some burners not heating
The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.
