I have had this problem with some of my dvd's, sometimes they willnot work in one dvd player, but will work in another. If they are copy DVD's they might not work.... then again if the DVD player is old it might be that, there are many problems it could be, if its under garantee i would replace it.

No,tv internal DVD player are not on sale by itself as a seperate unit, only can buy it from the tv corporations themselves and it not cheap and have to have experience to putting it in into the tv internal tv itself. The tv internal DVD player now, could be the laser eye data reader have problems reading mp3 and mp4 files on the DVD disc, which are video files. Now tries to play more than one DVD movies dic, tries like to play like 5 to 6 original DVD movies. One disc don't play tries another DVD disc.Tries this might forcing the laser eye reader to read DVD dics again and than might fix it to read video files again.Or just buy an external DVD player hook it up to the tv and play DVD disc on to the tv video modes.DVD players external devices are really cheap these day, like can buy new one for $40.
Tries the tv DVD player, play it with many other DVD discs too? Some the disc u trying to play it might just be bad like the reading shinning laser surfaces are scratches, smushes or grims and dirts on the disc reading surfaces?Tries washes the DVD disc, with some dish washing liquid, dries it with a cloth wait like two mins.Try the DVD disc again. If it have problems, but all DVD discs or with many other DVD discs too?Tries websites like Ebay.com or Amazon.com buy a Disc cleaning kit put Disc in the DVD player to play it have 50/50 chances to clean the DVD player laser eye reader. If not more like the DVD player laser eye it is dead.Tv still work fine?Don't take the tv aparts, tries to clean it laser eye manally, because,if u putting tv back together again might causes tv problems too.Just buy a DVD player unit plug it in the tv and play ur DVD Discs.DVD player extenal unit it very cheap these day.Don't take chances, like take ur tv aparts.
the chances are the laser is bust try cleaning it with cd cleaner disc and liquid if it does not work laser is done buy another dvd player much cheaper than replacing the laser unit
The key is having at least a Universal Remote ($10.00 or less) that will operate your brand of TV. Your TV is only looking at "stations". You need to make it see Aux-1, Aux-2, or Line In mode. BUT, another trick is to run the DVD into your VCR (if capable). Select the VCR proper "input mode" (Aux-1, Aux-2, or Line In mode) then the DVD will play through the VCR and it will play through the TV on either channel 3 or 4. Problem solved!
Chances are, your DVD player uses one laser to read CDs, and a different laser to read DVDs (since Cds and DVDs are read at different wavelenghts of light). If the DVDs you're trying to watch work properly in other DVD players, it probably means that the DVD laser is dirty, damaged, or burned out. Though you can try cleaning the laser (use Google for suggestions on how to do this, or check the Audiovox website), you will most likely have to get the DVD player repaired, or buy a replacement.
Many of the newer CD/DVD players sold today use a single combination laser, which reads both CDs and DVDs, which means that when the laser fails, it will not work at all. Wish I had better news for you, but I guess that the only consolation you have is that your Audivox player still works with CDs...
