If you have a air gap installed on the counter top (it's the chrome r2d2 looking device) pull the top off and you'll notice a pipe draining into a pipe. Get the dishwasher started and then slowly turn the knob on the dishwasher to drain when you hear the motor kick in you should see water draining thru this device if not buy a new dishwasher and have a licensed plumber install it for you.

Washing machine wont spin

If your washing machine wont spin it and wont empty the water it is a blocked drain pump. You may have a faulty lid switch or it could be going out of balance.

New garbage disposal? It's happened many times in my career- customer installs a new disposal then the dishwasher won't drain so they buy a new dishwasher to find the disposal didn't have the knock out knocked out. Check the easy stuff first.
