Intcartrigde runs from left to right

And a small plastic ribbon of +/- 30 cm came out.

    I have re-installed the encoder strip, on 4 different ways since on the photo's it was not clear where it should be attached and if the arrow should be in front and above.
    When giving a print command the cartridge goes to the midden but no further actions. Neither paper is taken, the wheel doesn't turn/ does nothing.

    How should I connect the encoder strip ?

    Why the printer doesn't start ?

It could be the encoder strip which is responsible for the proper movement of the cartridge carrier in the carrier assembly inside the printer. Try to check to this article on the Lexmark website to give you an idea on how to re-seat the "plastic ribbon".

Touchpad Ribbon Cable
There will be two plastic "clip" pieces (if you will), they run about half a cm from the host. You just need to pull them out (again only about half to a quarter of a cm) and insert the ribbon. Once it's inserted push the two small plastic pieces back snugly against the ribbon to fix it in place. FYI it should look like an upside down this: Plastic Clip ----> '_'____'_' <---- Plastic Clip

Ribbon does not move during typing and no ink gets on paper.
Hi:

It appears that the ribbon feed connector has come loose from the ribbon feed motor. On top where the ribbon sits you will see where the ribbon couples to the ribbon feed motor on the right side. Look on the bottom of the ribbon and you will see where the ribbon couples with the ribbon deck feed motor. Directly under that ribbon deck is the ribbon feed motor. It sound like the cable came loose and it just needs to be plugged back into to motor.

Ribbon replace on ibm selectra 2
Lift top cover up.
Move the carrier to center of machine.
On the right hand side of the carrier there is a red lever. slide it to the left.
( it will lift ribbon arm's up & move the ribbon drive mecanisem out of the way.)
you now can lift the ribbon cassett out of the machine,
put the new ribbon in the machine.
there is a wire with a white plastic roller around it on the left side of carrier. make sure the ribbon goes on the out side of the that wire.
put the ribbon throuugh the lift arms
turn the knob on ribbon till the colored led is in to the ribbon cassett + a few turns of the black ribbon is around the spool.
slip the red lever to the right.
close cover & try typing
