On xbox 360. my gears 3 disc freezes the console. when rebooted it says the disc is unreadable. i'm on my 3rd disc. when i remove the hard drive, i can play gears 3 but cant save . i have played gears 1 and 2 previously with no trouble, but now they freeze also. all other games play fine.

Hello Delete any saved game files from your x box hard drive.Unplug x box for 5 min. Plug back in and power up. Try game again. Chances are files have become corrupt.Also delete any files from GOW 1 and 2.

common problem with your disk drive you need to clear your cache to do this go to system setting then memory then hover over your hard drive then click y then click clear system cache g
things you can do:
1.) Clear System Cache. To do so, on My XBox, go to System Settings then Memory. Under the Memory Units, scroll to the Hard Drive (don't select it, just highlight it) and access the Device Options (Y-Button). Select Clear System Cache. Then restart your console.
2.) Try removing the Hard Drive, if you have. Turn off your console, then remove your Hard Drive. Turn it back on, and try to play the game.
3.) After #2 and still doesn't work, try removing all memory units. Turn off the console, remove the memory unit and/or USB Flash Drives. Turn it back on, and try to play the game
4.) is this happening with just one specific game disc? or other game discs too?
• if this is only happening with this specific game, have you tried using the game disc in a different console? It is still didn't work, you may have to replace your disc
• if this happening with other game discs as well, you might have to call it in for a repair or visit xbox.com to process a repair online.
put the disc in the drive and go to game library. then select game and save to hard drive. this will back up your game. takes 10 mins approx. then play game from hard drive. [email protected]
If you have flashed your xbox 360 with 1.61 firmware, have you got the Wave 4 patch disc, lot of currently released games need this disc to be run first before you run the copied games,you can check on google for the updated list of Wave 4 copy protection enabled games.
If you face problem with all copied game discs, even for older ones like Gears of War 2, Halo 3 etc then you should get the drive checked with the person from whom you have got your Xbox 360 modded
The problem you are facing is possibly due to a white lever near the dvd tray that is out of alignment, how do you align your console while playing Horizontal or vertical ?
try changing console position and check if it makes any difference, do not try experimenting much if your console is under MS support warranty, send it straight away for repairs they would replace the dvd drive for you
If you have the problem where the Xbox 360 will not read your discs then you need to stop the sensors overheating and to do this you can send it back to Microsoft or fix it yourself
