It's stuck in place and won't move either left or right. When I hit a key it types that letter, but the paper doesn't move to the next space

If it is stuck in the middle of the page it probably has a carriage lock usually just below the carriage on the R. or L. side.

How to turn on numlk for gateway NE56R31u

You may have hit a certain combination of keys on your Gateway laptop and turned on the NumLock function accidentally. The result is that the rectangle of keys from the 7 key down to the question mark key have become a number-entry keypad. Worse, Gateway manuals don't discuss this function.

Hold down the "Fn" key on the bottom row of the keyboard, and press the "NumLk" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F11" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the F11 key and "Scroll Lk" key simultaneously. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "F9" key. Type the letters UIO. If they come out as numbers, move on to the next step. Hold down the "Fn" key and press the "Scroll Lk" key. Type the letters UIO. They should come up as letters. If none of these help, then it's probably a keyboard malfunction and you'll need to get it repaired.

Ink cartridges stuck on left side of carriage. Won't move. Tried all of the suggestions and still says carriage jam.

it will be stuck in roller cleaner mode, that is mechanical. the only real way is to push it thether over to the left. with the power off the printer, then close the compartments and turn on the printer it can take 2 o3 goes as it will try to move it right. you have to get it off the clip that is holding it there. the cartridge is held in place to stop it moving while the roller is cleared.

Space key doesn't work well

I would power off the computer and continously hit the space key for a few minutes. It might have a liquid spill such as a soda pop under it and causing it to stick. If that doesn't solve the problem you might need a new keyboard or go inside the laptop and remove the keyboard cable and plug it back in to reseat it. Sometimes that helps. Here's a fail safe alternative. Bring up google's website www.google.com and in the search box type "download.cnet.com" (without the quotes) and click the link to go to their site. When the site comes up look immediately to the left and you will see a gray area that says Find Software. Type in "free virtual keyboard" (without the quotes) and click the mirror to search. It will bring back a page and the Free Virtual Keyboard is listed first. Look to the right of it and click the Download Now button. Download and install it. Once it is install you can look in Start/Programs and right click on it and select Pin to Start Menu then right click again and select Desktop (Create Shortcut). It's a neat keyboard to have just in case your real keyboard goes bonkers. You simply click on the letter with your mouse pointer that you want. It has all the functionality of a physical keyboard. You can open a web page, place your mouse in the address line then bring up the virtual keyboard by clicking on it from your desktop or start menu and it will sit on top of whatever you were trying to do. You can move it to see the typing area as you click on a letter. It works the same way if you opened a word document. In your case anytime you need the space bar, just click on it.

Dell vostro 3700 - keyboard numeric side - 0 doesn't type at all. and other times my display auto fills with 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

This indicates the ' 0 ' key is stuck, not mechanically, but the contacts.
One thing you can do is disassemble the keyboard and try cleaning between the two transparent sheets (with contacts) where the contacts for the non-working key is.
If this does not solve the problem, you can try putting an ' O ' shape cut out of paper. The inside diameter should be slightly larger than the contact area. The 'O' should be placed such that this the contacts for the erroneous 0 key contacts are encircled by the paper O.
If even that fails, put a piece of paper between these contacts so that you won't get the working area filled with 0s. I know it can be headache, but you will get used to using the other 0 key.
