Thanks much!
I ended up taking it to best buy, & one of the geeks was able to get it apart & there was a piece broken off of the door cover.
Not sure if that was before or after, but he was able to get the dvd out & without the door cover on, it opens & closes properly, but I haven't tried to see if the drive will play anything yet.
Hi Donna,
Please do be frustated.
Your lovely Bose has problem with its mechanism that cause load / unload totally out of order. If you hear some noise while you turn on the bose or when you hit some buttons, it is telling us the motor still work. Now we need to check the broken gears ( or other mechanism linkage).
If you able assemble this Bose, go ahead to find and fix it mehanism ( you may need some parts replacement.
Note : Be carefully with its laser lens while power on ( avoid direct contact to your eyes).
Best luck,
Jay

I love my Bose 321 DVD system, but a few days ago, it started acting weird. I put in a DVD, and it reads - "No Disc".....and I'm not sure why. I cleaned the disc, and I also played a DVD/CD Maintenance kit - I'm not sure what is wrong. It seems like I have a problem within the system - what can I do?

can you post the disassembly page in with a larger view? This is too small to be useful

Well, it seems that this may be a common issue with this BOSE unit. My 321 GSIII was working fine as well for about a week. After a full frustrating day of switching, disconnecting, reconnecting cables and resetting the unit and TV several times, I was forced to call the BOSE Technical. They tried to help with the situation over the phone by directing me to do just about everything I did before I ever called them. After about an hour of their unsuccessful help, they left me in saying that I will now have to run Composite cables because my TV will not connect for some reason through HDMI even though it was working for a short time. AHHHHH...I custom prepared the walls in my new office to accommodate non-exposed cables and wires and now BOSE is saying to expose Composite cables. Tomorrow, I am going to connect the Composite cables to confirm if the 321 will now work that way (for curiousty). I will then call BOSE back and demand a replacement unit. I will keep all in the loop with my progress of this situation.

the dvd system is built around a pc style dvd rom drive. You can remove the top cover by prying the back center up and sliding the cover back then off. Remove the metal bracket that holds the drive in place and then remove the drive. the front tray cover should pop off as you remove the drive. There is a eject hole in the front that if you put a paper clip into it will release the tray. That way you can get your dvd back. I refurbish these drives and I may have one for sale. Contact me if you would like to send the unit in to me i can complete the repair for 85.00 Bose does offer a repair service if you call them at 1-800-999 2673

Oh, also tapping 10-15 times doesn't do anything either.
Just shows opening & then closing, but doesn't do anything.
