Bose 3 2 1 GS Series II DVD Home Entertainment System - Graphite Logo

Bose 321 II dvd drawer won't open, fixes here & elsewhere not working. I put in a recorded dvd. It tried to read it, & never gave me the not supported msg as I started trying to eject it because it didn't appear it would be able to play. It won't eject, & even when I turn it off, or it turns itself off, which it is doing, you can hear it doing something inside. Only unplugging the system gets it to stop doing whatever it is in there. I've unplugged it, numerous times, powered it up, & I still can't get it to eject. I've seen where it says places, while the bose 321 is on the screen, hit the eject, nothing. I've turned it on 1st, held down eject, nothing. Lightly tapped open, nothing. Turned it to cable so it doesn't try to read the dvd again, nothing. I don't see a reset button anywhere. I had this problem once before, & I did find a fix that worked right away, but I don't remember which one it was & now nothing seems to be working.

Oh, also tapping 10-15 times doesn't do anything either.
Just shows opening & then closing, but doesn't do anything.

Thanks much!
I ended up taking it to best buy, & one of the geeks was able to get it apart & there was a piece broken off of the door cover.
Not sure if that was before or after, but he was able to get the dvd out & without the door cover on, it opens & closes properly, but I haven't tried to see if the drive will play anything yet.

Hi Donna,

Please do be frustated.

Your lovely Bose has problem with its mechanism that cause load / unload totally out of order. If you hear some noise while you turn on the bose or when you hit some buttons, it is telling us the motor still work. Now we need to check the broken gears ( or other mechanism linkage).
If you able assemble this Bose, go ahead to find and fix it mehanism ( you may need some parts replacement.

Note : Be carefully with its laser lens while power on ( avoid direct contact to your eyes).

Best luck,

Jay

SOURCE: bose 321 DVD System

I love my Bose 321 DVD system, but a few days ago, it started acting weird. I put in a DVD, and it reads - "No Disc".....and I'm not sure why. I cleaned the disc, and I also played a DVD/CD Maintenance kit - I'm not sure what is wrong. It seems like I have a problem within the system - what can I do?

SOURCE: communicating with your tv message on bose 321 series 2

Well, it seems that this may be a common issue with this BOSE unit. My 321 GSIII was working fine as well for about a week. After a full frustrating day of switching, disconnecting, reconnecting cables and resetting the unit and TV several times, I was forced to call the BOSE Technical. They tried to help with the situation over the phone by directing me to do just about everything I did before I ever called them. After about an hour of their unsuccessful help, they left me in saying that I will now have to run Composite cables because my TV will not connect for some reason through HDMI even though it was working for a short time. AHHHHH...I custom prepared the walls in my new office to accommodate non-exposed cables and wires and now BOSE is saying to expose Composite cables. Tomorrow, I am going to connect the Composite cables to confirm if the 321 will now work that way (for curiousty). I will then call BOSE back and demand a replacement unit. I will keep all in the loop with my progress of this situation.

SOURCE: Bose 321 won't eject DVD

the dvd system is built around a pc style dvd rom drive. You can remove the top cover by prying the back center up and sliding the cover back then off. Remove the metal bracket that holds the drive in place and then remove the drive. the front tray cover should pop off as you remove the drive. There is a eject hole in the front that if you put a paper clip into it will release the tray. That way you can get your dvd back. I refurbish these drives and I may have one for sale. Contact me if you would like to send the unit in to me i can complete the repair for 85.00 Bose does offer a repair service if you call them at 1-800-999 2673

Bose cinemate remote turns dvd on and off but can't navigate menu

Some remotes will simply not operate some functions, even with the correct codes. You could search for other codes elsewhere, but the chances are that even if you get some of them working, something will still not work. Some universal remotes are better than others. But you might have to pay a lot for one. If you can find the original remote second-hand then I would get it.

Bose 321 DVD Stuck Won't Open

This can happen if the disc has been put in upside down accidentally, if both sides are highly reflective (e.g. blank recording discs). If so, you need to get the system to eject the system before it attempts (and fails) to read the wrong side of the disc:
On the back of the Acoustimass module (sub woofer) is a power switch. Use this to the turn the system off and wait 30 seconds. Switch it back on, the media centre flashes up "Bose 321" - press the eject button firmly once as soon as this disappears. If this works, contact Bose with the serial number from the media centre to see if the system needs a (free) software update (a disc they send in the post) - just in case the system is having general disc reading issues.

However, it may be that the drive has failed - it's a mechanical part in a mass produced system so this is not unreasonable, just disappointing. But because you have bought a premium system, the company will rush to help you - call them for a repair and explain you need the disc back urgently. they'll probably arrange an urgent, fast turnaround repair....
