My 4GB memory card is in locked position. I accidentally broke the slide bar.Is there a way I can unlock?

SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.

There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.


For non-SD cards: Format the card

The data on the memory card may be corrupted.

There is a tiny slide switch on the side of the memory card if you look on carefully. Slide it accordingly as indicated to unlock, this is provided to prevent accidental erasure of important data in the card.

All SD (and SDHC) cards have a locking switch on them and this can be activated accidentally when handling the SD card.

Remove the SD card and slide the switch on it away from the lock position. If this does not work or if the switch is already in the correct position, then slide it all the way to lock and then fully back again.

If this fails then you have a faulty SD card and must replace it. Note that if you have to replace the memory card you can use regular SD cards up to 4GB and SDHC cards which start at 4Gb rising to 16GB maximum. The camera slows down when using SDHC above 8GB though.
