I have a Husqavarna Designer II sewing Machine and the language every time I turn off the machine and then power it up again stays on another language. I have read the book many times on how to change the language to stay but still it does the same thing goes to "Dansk" until I change it to English. I talked to the local dealer and she said that there is a code???? but she can't remember it- Is there a code or anything that you can put in to reset the machine? I'm at my wits end and can't afford to take it in to have it looked at. Thank you in Advance for your Advice : )

Hello Michella Linton

On the touch screen touch "English" until your language choice is indicated. The language setting remains until it is changed. Refer to manual page 21 which can be downloaded free from this link: http://manuals.husqvarnaviking.com/

SOURCE: USB drive does not regularly read the USB flash

I have a Designer I USB that suddenly started not reading the usb stick that came with the machine. I was terrified that my machine was going bad, but I always start with the cheapest solution first. I bought a new usb stick, loaded the designs from the old one into my software then loaded everything on the new usb stick. My machine reads it every time so far. I replaced the usb stick about 3 months ago and have not had another problem since. I don't know if this is your problem, but usb sticks can go bad and since they are so cheap, I would try this first.

SOURCE: 4D d-Card Reader/Writer Kit and Husqvarna Quilt Designer II

Assume you are loading your designs using Organizer? Yes? I have very limited experience of this, preferring to use Disk Manager (but you need to have this program which I am guessing you don't).

It is my understanding that Organizer will only load one design to an embroidery media, not a whole menu of various designs. However you obviously are not "seeing" even one design. Did a pre-loaded Husqvarna card come with your machine? I think it should have, but if it didn't then that doesn't help you very much either.

I am wondering if the D-card is not "formatted" for embroidery recognition. The Designer machines like to receive their designs in a certain file arrangement but I'm afraid I can't offer you advice on how to format the card - I do my formatting through Disk Manager.

However, while I was writing the above it did occur to me - are you loading designs that are the .shv format? Your machine will not recognize .hus, .vip, .vp3 or any other format. Please write back to this group and let me know if any of the above was useful to you. I belong to a Yahoo group that deals exclusively with Designer machines, so I will ask the group members if they can come up with any helpful advice.

How do I oil my viking sewing machine? I have barely used it in the 10 years I have owned it, so I don't want to pay for a full tune-up. I'm sure it's linty and gummy inside.

The Designer II should not be oiled by the user. As with most computerized sewing machines, it's got a sealed bearing system. You do need to clean the bobbin area and the space under the bobbin case. See page 65 of the user manual to open stitch plate to clean the bobbin area and feed dogs. Next remove bobbin case holder and bobbin case to clean under there. Sometimes the interdental brushes can get some of the lint that the sewing machine brush misses.

The manual for the Husqvarna Viking Designer II is available on the product page: http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/en-US/Machines/DESIGNER-II . The current link to the manual is http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/getattachment/Machines/DESIGNER-II/Designer-II.pdf.aspx .

I hope this helps.

My machine's screen keeps turning off but the function buttons stay lit. The machine appears to reset itself randomly while im sewing and sometimes even when im not near it. Everything else seems to be...

Has your Designer 1 ever had the power supply replaced? Almost all Des 1's had a recall that was replacement of the power supply. Any Husqvarna Viking dealer will be able to check the power supply, or transformer, in your machine and make sure that it has been replaced. Sometimes this can be a loose connection inside the power supply.

Re-set computer the language will not stay memorized on the sewing machine tried everything the book suggested.

Hi Michella, How long have you had your Designer 1? Has this problem just started happening? Have you updated to the newest update lately which the last and lasted one for the last Designer 1 meaning before the SE, Ruby & the Diamond which came out here in the last year or two, the update version is 2.24. I've looked at my manual and there isn't really anything but a couple of lines on page 30 under the set tab in the screen menu that tells you anything about the language and next to the language tells you to touch next until you get the language you want then press ok. I turn my machine off and it still shows up in English which is what i.ve always had it set for. Resetting the computer I guess is just turning your sewing machine off & on(which is suppose to recalibrate it's self). If you're setting your language which you didn't say what it was and pressing ok, then when you turn your machine off then on again and it changes then it's probably something you need to go and take it in to your local tech cause it could be a problem with a pc board or something. I myself don't like to do that if I can fix it myself but sometimes it's kind of unavoidable. Let me know if any of this helped. excuse me if I couldn't help further. Maybe we can Google the problem further. Kathy:-)

Changing the language

Turn on your machine. The SET tab is the fifth from the left (or second from the right). Touch that.
You now need to touch the More button, which is on the bottom row and is the button on the left hand side (there are two buttons at the bottom - More and OK).
On the next page that comes up, the LANGUAGE select button is the single orange button at the bottom of the list. The two buttons at the very bottom are once again More and OK, so go above them to the single orange button. Each time you press this, the language changes. There are quite a lot to scroll through, but keep pushing it until English comes up again.
That should fix your machine for you. No suggestions on how to fix your husband, though!

Can't read my disk that I read in the sewing machine. Want to combine words and designs to put on my machine and embroider it.

What software are you using? You need to read the disk back to your PC in Disk Manager (VIP, 3D or 4D software) or use the input/output of Embird, if that is what you have. The disks that are used in the Designer 1 are not able to be read directly by a PC in Windows Explorer because they are in sewing machine language, not PC language. You can combine designs and lettering on the Designer 1 machine, without having to use PC software at all. Let me know if you need help with this.
