Since this is a desktop PC that has Windows 7 OS, there might be a possibility that the issue is on your wireless adapter. As we all know, desktop PC's has no built in wireless card on them, so you need to install a wireless USB adapter on your PC. Of course, 3rd party wireless USB adapters has their own wireless utility to manage the wireless connection and that is where you need to put in the infos about your wireless connection. You didn't mention if on the 2nd part, is it asking you to re-type your wireless passphrase or is it asking you for a WPS pin.
