Are you trying to get the messages from the phone directly or by calling into your phone.

If the answering system is on, then you can play back the messages from the base by pressing the Play/Stop button. To delete a message from the base, press the Delete button (has a 0 with a slash through it) while the message is playing. To delete all messages, press the Delete button when the phone is in standby. From the handset press the Messages softkey (has an envelope icon) when the phone is in standby. Then press Play/2 to play back the messages. To delete a message, press Delete/4 while it is playing. (Deleting all messages can only be done at the base.)

If you are calling into your phone system, you need to have set a two-digit PIN from either the base or the handset and remember it. Then call the number for your phone from a touch tone phone, press 0 and then the PIN within 2 seconds. (Do this while your greeting is playing or after a series of beeps when the phone answers your call after 10 rings if the answering system was off.) If the system is off, start by pressing 0 6 to turn it on. Press 0 2 to play back the messages. (All commands need to be entered within 15 seconds of the last command finishing with both keys pressed within 2 seconds.) To delete a message, press 0 4.

Uniden has the manuals for most of their phones on their support site: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl . Phones are listed in numerical and alphabetical order; thus the TRU9480 manual is on page 7. The direct link to the TRU9480 is http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/TRU9480om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

You don't need to erase the messages. Once you have listened to them, the next time a message is left on your machine, it will erase the older one.
