Our just started to do the same thing. Drove us crazy because there were no messages. I couldn't find the manual so I looked up the manual on their website. Here's how to fix it....IT WORKS! With the phone in "stand by", open the menu and select Global Setup.Select VMWI reset. Then select yes.
That worked and sved me from looking it up. Thanks
it works for us thank you
Thanks, holding down the button worked for me...
Thank you this was driving us crazy too, and your advice works
No more flashing light or envelope icon!!! Thanks so much. I should have looked you up 2 weeks ago when I bought the thing.
Too simple, I owe you a cup of coffee.
Thank you so much it worked :) woohoo!!!
Thank you!
YESSSSSS, thanks a ton
VMWI reset didn't work for me. Any other suggestions? Am I doing it wrong?
Brilliant thanks finally someone knows the correct way! All fixed
Perfect, VMWI reset worked like a charm... Thanks.
Call your phone, go to message options, clear messages.. Solved!!
My VMWI reset worked once, but not the second time
Worked for me. Thanks
Worked for me. Thanks
Many thanks, that b.......g light was driving us madder.
Worked! Thx!
You just push the find button on base unit for about 5 seconds. It says paging, let go of button and red light no longer flashes.

Hold down the "find handset" button on the phone base until the beeping stops. This will reset the message indicator. I just had this problem and downloaded the manual from uniden.com.
Totally worked!! No more blinking red lights on either of my Uniden handsets! Thank you!!
DECT 6.0 1735. Where on the base is the "find handset" button - no such button.
OK found HS and followed your instructions
but blinking led is still blinking
Changing the VMWI Reset doesn't stop the blinking light from blinking.
Well now - turns out to be a Telstra supplied message bank I didn't realise or know I had. Once the message bank was set up and all four messages deleted, the blinking light NO LONGER BLINKS. Yeah!! Now i know.
Thank the global thing worked for me but wondering what i just set up ( re: khartison195 post)

Thank you ScorpionQwn! You are my hero! That blinking light was driving me bonkers.
My uniden phone red light is blinking and it shows an envelope and there is no message it says empty. How can I fix this?
The menu/ Global Setup. Select VMWI reset. Then select yes,,,worked for me, but then within hours the red light returns! Why? Nothing has happened, no new phone calls, no new messages, nothing. Yet the red light blinks and blinks and blinks. I reset, then the same thing happens again. Wonder what's going on?
Make sure all voice mail messages are cleared from your phone company's mailbox. Check with your provider on how to do this if you can't figure it out. Basically it's usually, you call your own number and get into the mailbox that way. Clear all stored or especially unheard messages, that will make the little blinking light on your phone go away and all icons saying you have a message but you don't on your home answering machine.
That should do it~!
Yes you are a hero. Thank you. Not in manual that i could find
Yeah these sort of things can drive you batty! Especially when it blinks all night long in your eyes while sleeping. There's always the black tape fix! LOL
Thank you for this solution. all the others suggest the VMWI reset but there is no such thing in my global set up.

The light will also blink on the handset if there is a message on the base unit... look there to see if there are messages.
My 2 year old was playing around with the phones, and he must of pressed it. It has been driving me CRAZY, finally it is fixed. I held down the FLASH button for 5 seconds, and it shut off.
I had no problem for a year. A month ago, it started. That insipid flashing red light. I have tried every answer on this post. The VMI reset lasted 10 minutes. The find button did nothing. emptying the already empty message envelope did zip. I pulle the batteries and waited 30 seconds. No effect. So finally, and don\'t ;laugh, I cut a small piece of electrical tape and covered the damn light. Now I don;t see it flashing out the corner of my eye. Peace at last, peace at last!
