MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:
UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ONFOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.
PRESS AND HOLD "device"(input) and"menu" buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release bothtogether.
Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:
1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error
2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection
2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******
2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem
2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem
******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.
SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.
IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM
let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and twoblinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.
SD TECH
It means one of the two pico fuses on middle board is blown and (based on model number given) the STK-393-110 CONVERGENCE IC is bad.
I have photos of board and step by step instructions for the repair; it involves soldering and total parts cost (I can tell you where) will be under 24 dollars.
If you can solder and have a meter to check the two fuses this may be a do it yourself repair.
Instructions tell you everything you will need and how to do it.
Let me know if you want them and we will find a way to send them to you.

It is a WS-55517 TV and It was 2 blinks then 2 blinks
How hard to fix?
i have the same problem except when i try the diagnostic it comes back with 1 flash then 2 flashes - which according to your chart means no error. Any other suggestions as to what is wrong or how to fix it? i checked the fuses and they all appear to be good.
The fuses are on middle board (to left in a row--green in color ---look for location number on board fa9a04 and 9a05----they are soldered in and are marked 5 amp.
If one of them is bad it means whatever convergence ICs the set uses need to be replaced along with the pico fuse.
I am available in market place here---it will soon be phased out.

4) If manual override clicks on and off with timer, and lights stay on, then there might be a short between timer and lights.
Test for short to ground. Turn off power. Inside timer box, disconnect ground wire going to light. Do not disconnect ground wire unless power is off. Turn power back on. If lights are off, then the wire going to light is bad, or a light fixture is bad.
Caution. If there is a short, do NOT touch light fixture when power is on.

Thanks that worked & I have 2 blinks pause & 2 blinks, what now?
How do I fix it?
Alex: if during the process you unplugged the set, that will clear the error buffer; so unplug, try to turn on again and when green power light goes out do the self test.
It is not uncommon for someone when the set fails to unplug the set which removes and clears the error code.
Try again.
Well I re-tested it and sure enough it shows the error code of 2 blinks and 2 blinks - which you say is the most common and it probably fuses? I looked and found the first fuse by the power plug and removed it and it looks to be intact. The other fuses are not that same kind - so i guess they are the ones you need a tester for and if bad then cut them out and buy new and solder them in? Can you give me instructions as to what typically needs to be changed to fix this problem? I really appreciate it.
I read below and it says you can tell me where to get the parts or get them from you. I would like to get them asap. Thanks
we checked all the fuses and they all test good. what now?
An sd tech spoted " I have photos of board and step by step instructions for the repair " . If you can send me them e-mail I would be happy. my e-mail is [email protected]
