MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:
UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER
LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.
PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv
for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.
Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:
1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error
2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection
2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******
2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem
2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem
******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the
fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no
voltage to convergence IC and shut down.
SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO
GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.
IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM
let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and two blinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.
if this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Testimonial: "thanks but i know whats wrong but how do i fix it? "
oK, LET ME explain. What it means is one of the two soldered in fuses for the convergence circuit is blown---I have photos that show them so you can find them and also a photo of some resistors in front of them that need to be looked at--fairly easy stuff.
I have about 3 pages of Step by step start to finish instructions. They tell you everything you will need and how to do the repair. It involves two things--getting at the chips and being able to solder etc.
Confirm to me actual model number and I will post the instructions here for you--you can read them and decide if you can do the repair. EBAY is the best place to get the chips (some models use one and others two chips---the reason I want to know the model number.

SD Tech - just checked my Mits WS-65819 and when I run the test of holding MENU INPUT down I get 2 blink and then 2 blinks. Can u pls email me the 3 pages of instructions for fixing the convergence circuit. According to your msg 1 of the 2 soldiered circuits is blown.
Appreciate your help

I have a 2009 WD73373 , when ran through the diagnostic test I holding the buttons down for 5 seconds, it blinks green once , then twice and repeats this 5 times , help ?? thanks ! matt
Hi. I love my tv but I don't understand what's going on..? When I did the menu/input test a months ago, it did 2 flashes, paused, then 3 for code 23. I unplugged it and tried it again today and it does 1 flash, pause, then 2; which says "no error," but I have no screen :(

If power light does come on and a few seconds later it goes off---do the self check that the WS65909 MITSUBISHI should have:
On the front of the set press and hold both the MENU and INPUT(OR DEVICE) BOTH FOR 5 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS.
Power light should blink a two digit code--error code---for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks.
Let me know what code you get----it will repeat it several times---and I will tell you what it means.

Thanks,

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions
