Electronic interference

There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.Things That Affect Wireless Router Signals1. My wifi network goes down when my home phone rings

Lots of cordless phones will interfere with WIFI if the router is on certian channels. Try getting into your router and changing the channel to 11. Channel 6 is the default of many routers and it is real close to the same frequency of cordless devices.

If you need to know how to get into the router, just comment here and I will explain it.

What is the best setting for my ps3 and what channel i shoud i us

You need to have a look at the other wireless networks around to know what channel you need to set your wireless network to.

The basic rule for wireless networks is that you should have at least 5 channels between your wireless network and the strongest wireless networks (so if you have a network near you on channel 1, then you need to set yours to channel 6). This is to avoid channel interference, sometimes it is not completely possible, just pick the strongest networks near you, and change yours to 5 different.

Once you have set your wireless router up, the PS3 will then connect to the wireless channel that you set.

Hope that makes sense! lol

Wireless laptop wont pick up wireless at home

Try to improve the wireless range of your router
1.
Position your wireless router in a central location.
Move the router off the floor and away from walls and metal objects. Metal, walls, and floors will interfere with your router's wireless signals. The closer your router is to these obstructions, the worse the interference, and the weaker your signal will be.
2.Change the wireless channel of your router. Sometimes one wireless channel is clearer than others.
a.Open a Web Browser on the computer. In the address bar of the Web Browser type http://192.168.2.1
b.Click Login in the upper right hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click submit
c.Click on Channel and SSID the left hand column under the Wireless heading.
d.Change the wireless channel that your router is broadcasting on.
Note: You don't need to change your computer's configuration, because it'll automatically detect the new channel.

2 Wire DSL Wireless modem range expander

you might want to try to change the wireless channel 1. open your internet browser 2. type on the address bar 192.168.1.254/management or 172.168.0.1/management and press Enter 3. type your system password (modem password) 4. go to home network -> wireless 5. change your wireless channel to 9 - 10 if after changing the channel it still wont work please check for EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) such as electric appliances, hallucinogen lamps, WIRELESS PHONES, satellite dish and or alarm systems. also make sure that you dont put your router on a carpet. usually a good distance between your router and the computer is around 5 - 20 feet with no walls between them since walls also contribute on the interference. one last note, keep your router away from water i.e. aquariums, water dispenser and the like since water contributes to the interference of the wireless signal

Wireless network and phone!!

It is possible that a 2.4GHz wireless phone could interfere with the operation of a wireless network. They both operate in the same frequency band. However, the possibility is limited because phones typically check the "air" before choosing which channel to operate on. They will likely pick a clear channel that won't interfere with the network. If you manually change the channel on the phone while in use, you could potentially step on the networks channel and crash the network.
