I dropped my canon powershot SD 4500 IS and now it won't turn on! It's survived countless other falls just fine, and would turn on immediately then. All times, including this time, have been when the camera was OFF, so it's not a problem of the lens being stuck - it simply won't turn on. No lights or anything. I've tried removing and replacing the battery, as well as the SD card. I'm not sure what else to do...

The A410 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card and won't work in devices not designed to use them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

The G3 can use SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards. As far as your camera is concerned, the only differences between them are size. SD cards go up to 2GB, SDHC cards go from 4GB to 32GB, and SDXC cards go from 64GB to 2TB.

The speed of the card won't matter much for shooting stills. For videos you'll want at least Class 4. As for the brand, stick with any of the major brands and you'll be fine.

Usually you can't hear the loose screws in these when they fall out and short out the camera, although many people will say you can. When you have no power on a G7 or a G9, it is most always that loose screw problem. The screws inside should be corrected at the time of the repair so the problem doesn't happen again later.
