I have a P-R405B-EP and the flame roll-out switch went off. I by- passed the switch briefly to see what the problem is. The switch worked for good reason. Ther are some flames coming from the bottom left of the unit that came up right where the switch is (nice placement). A little flame was also coming out from the lower left also, thus threatening to burn he wires there. I closed down the unit and shut off the gas. Can you tell me what might be causing the flame to roll out and how I might fix it? Thanks, Jim

Spiders have been in the burner tubes and there is enough silk in there to prevent the gas flow down the tube. I use a stiff piece of #8 wire to run up inside the tube to clear out the silk.

Along the bottom edge where it slips over the jet you should see a little dip and opening from below the gas manifold. Run the wire up into the burner from there. If there is a lot or a few passes doesn't clear it out I bend a little hook into the tip of the wire. After a few more passes it should clean it all out and the burner tunes should work properly. Confirm this by checking all the flames to ensure they are solid blue and a few inches tall off the burners.

Video on my Sony VCR (SLV-780HF) goes gray after playing a tape a few seconds. What could be the problem?

The only real cure will be to clean the video head. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid that whatever recorded you EP mode tape was not set up well tracking wise. So other machines struggle to track the tape. Some VCR's will only playback SP or LP tapes and don't have EP mode. In which case you should check to see if these VCR's can play the EP tape and if they can't find one that can.

If so you just proved both the high and low voltagesare there.
does the stat send a signal on W for heat?does that W get passed the saftetys as in flame roll outs limits etc?
does the inducer motor run? if so does the presure switch or centrifigual switch close proving its running?

if so is the ignition working, either hot surface ignition or spek type? WE NEED TO KNOW THIS.

I have a Minolta EP 3170, and I'm getting a paper jam every time I try to do a copy. The jam occurs right before the drum. Upon inspection, I first though it was the opto-switch near the drum because the...

Try making a copy from the manual by-pass tray. If that works, your problem is with the paper pick up & feed from the paper cassette. Odds are if that is the case you will need new feed rollers. Which clutch did you disconnect? There is reg. & pre Reg. & the developer drive clutch? This is a old copier, you may not find the parts for it. It is a Bear to work on......... I have not worked on one in about 15 years. It is basicly the same engine as a EP 4010 & EP 3090?

My Blower runs 24/7 and the burner is not kicking on.... Is this a high limit switch issue?

It might be the high limit, but it could also be the roll out switch or the flame sensor. Start by ohming out the simple switches the high limit the rollout if the are good use a piece of light grit sand paper or some emery and clean the flame sensor. This is a rod that sits in the flame of the burner telling the gas valve the burners are lite and it is okay to keep the valve open.

COMES ON ONCE OR TWICE BRIEFLY BEFORE FINALLY STAYING ON ?FURNACE BLINKS A CODE 13

The first thing I would try is clean out the manifold inside furnace where the gas passes through. If that doesn't work it sounds like your flame sensor needs to be replaced or at least cleaned.

How do I clean a flame sensor on a 1993 Lennox Whisper Heat furnace. It heats, then the gas valve clicks and the flame briefly stops and starts again then the valve clicks again and the flame briefly stops...

You can sand the flame sensor but it sounds like another problem. Sounds like a limit switch or something in the control circuit, You need to have a service tech look at this. Ask for free estimate on repair. I have worked on hundreds of these units and they are sometimes tricky to work on. Lenox has come up with new controls for the whisper heat furnace to replace the old ones. If the flame sensor is bad the unit will try to light a few times and lock out and you ahve to kull power to the furnace to reset. If this is whats happening clean the sensor nd you should be ok If not you need help from a service tech.Rus

Flame backlash

The burners have an adjustable vent in the front that may have been moved. Also the vent pipe may be inadequate, that is why the roll out switch that you by-passed tripped. If you replace the switch that was by-passed I bet the over flaming stops,as the gas will quit overflowing. Most of these switches have a little reset button on them so look at it next time before you by-pass the wires.
