My sony KP-443X3U rear projection tv went to standby and I cannot get it to switch on. It is approx 6 years old. I think the bulb needs to be replaced?

Google the model number to locate it with "lamp" and You Tube has video instructions for replacing in most models--lamp has a 2,000 hour or 2 year average life and is meant to be replaceable by the customer who owns the set.

My sony television is developing an increasing number of blue dots across the screen. It is a Sony LCD model # KDF-42WE665 I have already reaplaced a bulb to the tune of $350.00 about 2 years ago and now...

This blue dots problem is due to defective blue lcd and related uv filters/ polarizers in optic block (light engine) and optic block will be replace to fis that issue.
It would be costly fix and an experienced tech is needed to do the job. You can expect $1000 repair cost.
Thanks.

Blue haze/blue dots on hd tv

You likely have a bad optical block. Sony was supplying the optical block as a warranty repair until June of this year, but that warranty has expired.
