For that you need to disable lock in bios. When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios . Then you can see bios enter in bios and load optimal defaults. Then save settings and exit. If elock is enable then disable. If you are not able to enter in bios if it ask for password then you need to reset bios. For that you need to open back cover of laptop then find motherboard and pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then all settings defaults. Then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
The Acer Elock is used to protect your computer from any external device or access like flash drive, any external media device, optical disc DVD etc.
To make the DVD CD station active you need to go to acer elock interface and enter the password which you first entered on the computer while doing acer elock system.
try:-
1. select "my computer", right click on cd drive, and click on eject
2. switch off pc,then manually eject cd tray by inserting a strong paper clip in the small pin hole on the front of the cd drive, insert the clip for about 1.5 cm (half inch) in the pin hole and you will feel it press on a lever to open the tray slightly.
Yeah, I was having the same problem. Emulated optical drives are locked too. So I just went ahead to add remove programs and removed Acer Elock Management. It's useless anyways, never used it in my life. My Drives work fine now! So to everyone having this problem: REMOVE ACER ELOCK MANAGEMENT and your drives will get unlocked!
I hope it wld solve...If not buzz me........
Thanks.
Acer eLock Management
Acer eLock Management is a security utility that allows you to lock your removable data, optical and floppy
drives to ensure that data cannot be stolen while your notebook is unattended.
Removable data devices - includes USB disk drives, USB pen drives, USB flash drives, USB MP3 drives,
USB memory card readers, IEEE 1394 disk drives and any other removable disk drives that can be
mounted as a file system when plugged into the system.
Optical drive devices - includes any kind of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drives.
Floppy disk drives - 3.5-inch disks only.
Interfaces - includes serial ports, parallel port, infrared (IR), and Bluetooth.
To activate Acer eLock Management, a password must be set first. Once set, you can apply locks to any of the
devices. Lock(s) will immediately be set without any reboot necessary, and will remain locked after rebooting,
until unlocked.
You can try this:
You can reset the system to its default settings (all devices unlocked) by removing the password (leave the password fields blank when changing the password).
You also may be able to simply uninstall the e-lock software in add remove programs.
Is there an icon in your system tray that may allow you to disable e-lock?
My advice for you will be, go to Add/Remove Program, uninstall the acer elock, restart your windows, it should be running just fine. If the problem still persist. Please do come back here for more assistance.
Your rank for my solution is much appreciated!!! THanks
without knowing which version of the program you got I can suggest for you to:
press start
select run
or
hold down windowskey and press r
type in services.msc
find the elock service, right click properties, disable the service, and stop the service.
you may need to set a new drive letter for the optical drives
(right click my computer - manage - left side disk management - find drives without letters, right click assing or change drive letter)
if you can't uninstall the program? its asking for a password? Its extremely easy to reset the password but would need to know what version of the software your running.
I will bet anything the computer you have is an Acer Laptop.
Try this:
1. Go to www.driverstock.com and download from the site 'elock'.
2. Install and run the program.
3. It will ask you for a password, type one in. (any - just write what you wrote down)
4. Then click on the items and lock them. (Yes I said lock them)
5. Then click on site you want to unlock and enter the password again.
6. All the sites that acer elock had locked will be unlock.
I have a working workaround solution to this problem - save yourself 100usd (what acer requests from the unlocking) and press the ask me button to send me the free(FREE POST TO FORUM) request, Il give you the workaround, will take less than 10 minutes to solve the problem, really not worth it to pay 100usd for something this silly.
Il possibly soon make a video tutorial on how its done but for now, send me a request and il tell you how to get rid of the problem.
gave work email address in error first time
