Screen replacement hdtv

As i can see it should be easy to do. need to unscrew the back, then unscrew the cage and pull away then the screen is there sna you can replace it from there without having to remove any boards just remember there is a mirror inside the case at the top its only got glue holding it in its place. so take out carefully and place some were so it will not get damaged. the screen has a bazle holding it in place these can be brittle so take care removing it. as iv never seen a replacement one for any tv with them fitted. you can glue the screen in place but you can somtimes leave a mark and it will show up when the tv is on.

This lamp already has the housing with it, just swap it out.
Two, you could have a bad power supply- Repair is usually 240-280 bucks in shop.
3: You could have a bad fan. The fan on this T.V. that goes bad is a nightmare to get to and I highly recommend a service man to do it.

Tv wont come on lamp

The lamp of quality cost about $150-$200. Check how much the service call will be. If too expensive, install it yourself

I have a 60vf820 hdtv.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

I put a new lamp in tv wont come on lamp light

If the lamp light keeps flashing it usually means that either the lamp door has come loose /the existing lamp has burned out. The first thing to do would be to open the lamp doors(inner and outer) and make sure that they click into place. If problem persists then its time to replace the lamp.

Poor picture (faint)

I assume you have played with the color option in the settings. this set has different settings like theater, sports ..etc. that can hinder the black in the picture. Also I would do an auto focus as well to get everything lines up..

The picture to our TV

Hi there,
Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your TV. There are a number of things that may be causing the problems you have.
The HID projection lamp/ballast may have failed, this is a likely problem. Check to see if the "lamp" indicator is coming up on the front of the set. The cracking/humming sounds you are hearing may well also be produced as a result of degradation of the power supply in the set. difficult to tell without actually looking into the problem first hand, and making some diagnostic checks evaluating the source of the the problem. There may be dry solder joints, or power supply components failing resulting in the set now not turning on. This model of set has protection circuitry to do this to prevent any further damage being done to the rest of the set in the event that the power supply is not operating within specifications. Even a failing cooling fan to the lamp may result in the symptoms you have.
There are no user serviceable parts inside a TV of this nature. If you are not experienced or knowledgeable with electronics repair and the life threatening hazards the high voltages present in the back of you TV present, then you should seek the advice of a qualified technician to have a closer look at the problem for you.
Happy to answer any questions that you may have.
regards robotek

Top of screen looks like it is sagging, color is

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.
