Moutlrie I-40 IR flash doesn't seem to work

error 020000 relates to flash/flash charging...if new, take it back.I have repaired several by replacing the IR LED flash...easier fix than the incandescent units.

Display says sd card is locked

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

When I place a new sd card in it shows it a locked

This is such a common question that I hope you don't mind if I paste my generic answer below, which I have edited slightly to meet your needs. Note that cards may appear to be unlocked when they're not. The answer also covers what to do if the card is faulty.

Your
Moultrie GameSpy 4.0 Digital Camera Deluxe uses SD and SDHC memory cards up to a maximum of 4GB capacity. If you have used a larger capacity card then you may get the error you have reported as the camera cannot use larger capacity cards. On one edge is a slider switch: towards the electrical contacts is the unlocked position and away from them is locked.

Unfortunately, the switch is easy to move accidentally and it's also easy for it to appear to be unlocked when it isn't. Like any mechanical component it's also possible for the switch to fail.

If the switch is in the locked position then slide it fully to the unlocked position; if it's already in the unlocked position, slide it fully to the locked position and then fully back again. There should be a soft click at each end of the switch travel, if not then the switch is definitely faulty or obstructed.

If that fails, then try looking closely at the switch in both positions to ensure that there is no debris obstructing its movement, if not then check the electrical contacts to ensure that they're completely clean and grease-free. Don't touch the contacts with your bare skin, but if the contacts need cleaning then a cotton bud (Q-tip) moistened with a little alcohol or methylated spirits can be used to clean them.

If you still have no fix, then try a different SD card as yours may have an irreparable faulty switch. If the card does prove to be faulty then on most major brands you may be able to return them to the manufacturer for exchange: I've found that they will often do this on a goodwill basis even if the card is out of warranty. Just check the manufacturer's website for support details.

If all options regarding the memory card are unsuccessful, then you have a faulty camera and further remedies require either a professional repair or replacement of the camera.

I hope that my free answer has been of use and has given you additional options to fix your problem. Please take a moment to rate my reply.

How do I find wiring diagram to a moultrie D 40 ?

You'll just have to borrow a good one and compare the wiring. This has proprietary issues the manufacturer doesn't want you to know.

You're error should read error"0200000"...flash error or flash charging...getting this during system diagnosis probably is that you failed to cover sensor during ck.
I f this is a constant error...turn cam on; remove batteries; turn system off; insert batteries and try again. .

Batteries last only a few days tried default

Try using the Energizer Lithium batteries in this unit. They have an extended life on them and usually they will be a better battery especially in game trail cameras. We use these in all of our game trail cameras, cuddeybacks and bushnells. They work extremely well for us. Also, try contacting moultrie through there customer service site and most times if they can not help you with the unit, they will replace the unit, or work with you.
Hope this helps.

My camera will not wake

Whenever you can shake a camera to make it work, there's a oxidized contact inside the camera that's just on the edge of making contact. It could be a ribbon connector, and they can be reset. Some people have had water damage, probably from condensation, and sometimes you can spray switches and contacts with electrical contact cleaner, and get it to work.
I heard good reports about Moultrie support, so refer to the literature that came with the camera to contact them- they may work with you to get this problem resolved.
If it's out of warranty, and there's nothing they can do for you, you can take it apart and see if you can disconnect and reconnect any connectors, and clean them when possible.
The infrared sensor isn't working, so try to identify any connections between it and the main board.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Moultrie game cam error code 1496 ?

this can't be an error code; error codes are in the format of 000000...100000=bat.test(0=pass;1=failed);020000=flash test/charging(0=pass;2=fail);003000=IR Sensor Test(0=pass;3=fail);000400=Camera Mod Test(0=pass;4-fail);000050=Memory Test.In this digit there are several codes...(0=memory ok/no sd card;5=memory full;6=SDcard locked;7=SDcard damaged;8= comms error)last digit,000006=Clock Test(0=pass;9=fail).
Are you sure this # is not preceeded by an "E", WOULD BE # OF EVENTS SINCE THEY WERE LAST CLEARED.
