after camera is turned to auto and the timer has counted down it turns off.

try hitting the lens part softly with the palm.. or connect it to the computer so that it gives an electrical boost. or vaccum the parts near the lens

I have been having problems with the flash going out in 18 months. I have 4 cameras with the solar panel hook up, this camera will not switch from battery to solar or visa versa. Otherwise a good camera for the money. I average around 300 night shots in 2 weeks. It would be nice if they could just sell you the flash to get it going. Customer Service says it's to expensive you have to buy a new one. I took 2 of the broken ones and got one working again. Had a bad capacitor on 1 bad flash on the other. Have 2 I-40 no problems.

I'm thinking you have a bad capacitor, or possibly a bad high voltage transformer (small component). If it's under warranty, get it exchanged. Contact Moultrie to find about about repair costs.
I couldn't find a support site for them, so consult your literature that came with it.

If this is correct,it relates to: Camera Mod test failed;(4); and under Memory Test, 8= Comms Error.New batteries(good ones) may fix it...
It' not communicating with memory card..ck it's inserted good..press down until it stays down(press again and it will pop up.
Follow instructions on deleting internal memory before installing SDcard.
Also, make sure cam supports kind of card you're using..at 4gb and larger, they become confusing;i.e., 4/8/16mb...older cams won't support some of these. Also there are HC(high capacity); HD(high definition)don't work in these cams..
I posted this for a fix a few days ago, and it turned out to be brand new bad batteries.

Yes, the LCD display needs replacing, a known prob. Contact Moultrie by e-mail @ www.moultriefeeders.com and tell them the prob.They will ship a new display with instructions no cost to you.

What type of batteries were you using? D-cell alkalines ,lithium,
or rechargeables?

no disc for these cams...should be able to view pics straight from SD card thru a card reader to pc...(may have to go thru START..MY COMPUTER...LOCATE DRIVE CARD READER IS DESIGNATED AS....
also should be able to view pics on tv thru video cable attached to cam.

Try the SD card on your computer to see if it recognizes and will store pics on the card. If that doesn't help, try another SD card.

SD cards have become the industry standard....but beware...there are SD cards NOT backward compatible...i.e.,some cams won't take 2GB or larger; then there is SDHC; SDHC(HD); RUNS FROM 512G thru 32GB HC/HD; ECT...check your cams manual for SD card compatibility.

I had the same problem. After much testing, I realized that the SD card had a problem, so I reformatted it on the computer and that solved the problem. I may replace the card anyway, as they're relatively inexpensive.

My Moultrie Came Camera takes pictures at night but they are just black, flash doesn't seem to be working, once in a while it will work, shows 18 pictures taken, only one came out. Batteries are showing 70%.

You have to take the Sd card and then hook up into you computer by a SD card reader or there may be a port on your computer to read the card but then you hook up to your computer and you should be able to watch the videos right of your computer
