i have had 4 of these ipods, all because they keep breaking. i keep trading broken ones in again. i don't know why. all the broken ipods exhibit the same "symptoms." they stop playing songs and videos, but you can still maneuver around the screens, using the buttons and wheel. none of the games are playable, and, if the ipod is reset (a difficult task with this kind), it dies. black screen, no responses, no revival. is it me, or a faulty product? what do i do?
SOLUTION!!!
I also had the same problem with my ipod nano..
Do this and i assure you, it will work..
1. Hold the MENU button and then the middle button down(in that order) together for about 10 seconds..
2. This should re-boot your ipod..
3. Wait for your ipod to start..
4. Problem fixed. It plays..

I turned my ipod onto nike +ipod to see what it was
then it just froze when I pressed regular.
Now its frozen on the main screen and won't shut off or respond to anything I press.
Because of this it also will not charge or show up on my itunes when I plug it in.
Help!
First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides
back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the
left, here's how you reset:
You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round
button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see
an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will
shut off, then back on.

I just bought this ipod and just my luck it doesn't work all i have is a all white screen, i have held down the menu + center button to restart it and it will but the screen comes back and beeps 2 times
Try This next time ....
Not all, but many 5G iPod owners have had issues with the latest iPod
updates, I had this problem myself a day ago & was almost ready to
send it in for a replacement, some HAVE sent theirs in. Anyways, after
updating the iPod the iPod no longer works!! All you get is a blank white screen
(White Screen Of Death), 3 beeping tones and you hear the hard drive
click. Simply resetting the iPod will do nothing, but get you another
three beeps & a click. But to resolve this issue do the following,
this had worked for me as well as others...
Extended
Reset
1) Move the LOCK to the "ON" position.
2) Move it back to the "OFF" position.
3) Hold the "Centre" button then hold down the "MENU" button until you
hear the harddrive make the "click" noise.
4) As soon as you hear the drive "click" press and hold the "Centre"
button then press & hold the Play/Pause button, you should then see
the Apple Logo" like normal and it should then start up like with no
problem.

the apple is not coming up when i press the buttons it did say connect to power ..Its flat and wont charge its been connected to the usb cord thats plug in the computer for a couple days. nothing comes up on the screen of the ipod, u cant see it in itunes.
First off....DO NOT connect to a USB Hub. DO connect directly to your computer.
Second off...I had exact same problems as listed above so I looked in the manual and it says:
Slide HOLD button to orange and then back to white. Then HOLD the MENU and CENTER button at same time until Apple logo appears.
Worked for me.

I have a 3rd generation 30g ipod. I haven't used it in a while because my charger broke and it took me a while to get a new one. Now that I have a new one finally, I tried to charge it but I couldn't even get the thing to turn on! I also tried charging it on my ihome, but that wouldn't work either. I tried resetting it many times, and it still won't even turn on. No pictures come up or anything. Can anyone help me??
Hi Guys,
I pressed the center and menu button for about 3 minutes and the unit came right back on.
thanks for the help
