Water leaking from the freezer unit.

The drain hole is probably frozen over. When it goes into defrost mode every 10 hours or so, the evaporator heater removes the ice from the evaporator. There is a drain hole under the evaporator with a hose attached that goes down to a pan by the compressor fan where it is evaporated so as to not leak water on the floor. When it freezes over the drain, the water fills the bottom of the freezer until it comes out the door. A common fix to prevent the drain from freezing over is to take a bare copper 14 or 12 gauge wire and put a couple turns around the evaporator heater and stick the other end into the drain. This heats the wire enough to keep water from freezing b over the drain hole.

Problem seems to be solved. I unplugged it for a short time and plugged it back in. I'm guessing it needed to be re-set.

JFC2089HED jenn-air French door top with pull-out

In most of this cases the ice maker cannot be repaired. Its faulty ice maker module unit. The ice maker has to be replaced.----------

If a batch of ice gets caught in the teeth during the ejection process, the ice maker module will make a constant creaking noise as it continues to try to eject the cubes. Freeing up this type of jam would eliminate the creaking noise. This is the only source of a constant creaking noise. But in this problem you will notice the ice blockage in the unit and frozen ice in the unit. But if you dont see any such thing and still there is noise then its faulty ice maker.Replace the ice maker and that will help.

You will need to replace the ice maker, the fingers are jammed in between ice making cycles, even raising the arm until it makes the complete cycle will continue to do this. Opening the door of the unit allows power to be removed from the unit and shuts it off until the door is closed again.----------------

Kenmore Elite Trio makes creaking/groaning sounds

I have a Kenmore Elite Trio and the freezer was making a frog sound. I found the solution.

My model number is 596.75523400. The sound will stop when the freezer is opened. It will stop again when the freezer drawer is open and the light switch is pressed to turn off the light. The ice drawer was full but it had stopped making ice.

Here is the fix in less than 10 minutes using only a screwdriver.
  • Take out the two freezer baskets
  • Remove the freezer door from the two slide tracks.
  • Unplug the icemaker electric connection at the back wall. Depress the clips on the side of the plug and wiggle it loose.
  • There are 3 screws that attach the icemaker to the left freezer wall. Remove the lower screw and unscrew the top two about ½ way out.
  • Slide the icemaker up so the slots slip over the 2 screws.
  • Put the icemaker in the sink and run a bit of water on the frozen cubes until they fall out.
  • Take the screwdriver and check the water inlet hose/pipe for ice that obstructs the flow of water into the ice maker.
  • Re-mount using the 3 screws and plug in the electric connector. Make certain the water inlet tube is positioned thru the retaining hole before you remount the screws.
  • Replace freezer door and baskets.

#JFI2589AEP freezer temp too high

You might try pulling the refrigerator out and vacuuming the coils in the back of the appliance. Check that you have clearance all the way around the unit so that air can get to the fans. You may need a new thermostat, but hopefully cleaning will do the trick. Check the manual for troubleshooting help before you call a repairman. (Manuals are available online if you have misplaced it.)

Groaning frig

BFULLAWAY had the answer, I believe. My ice maker does the same thing, groaning and creaking for a few seconds, stopping briefly, then starts creaking again. This is due to ice stuck inside and it will make no ice as a result. Usually I see a piece of ice protruding and knock it out. Happened recently, but I saw no ice. Took a cup of hot tap water (not boiling) and poured it into the compartments where cubes form. (Made sure ice tray was in place to catch water.) I banged on the side and a misshapened cube fell out. Creaking/groaning stopped and unit began to function normally.
