One solution would be to get a Windows Commander disk and try that. This disk contains an entire operating system ON the disk. That way as long as the cd drive works it can load the operating system and then it gives you options to look for the problem.

Also, how old is the system battery, the coin sized battery inside the computer. People never change these and they can cause all sorts of problems. These batteries usually last around 4 years, sometimes 5. If your system is older than that, replace the battery (about $3.00) first.

I CAN'T DETECT MY HARD

Either the hard drive is dead, or the wires to it have come loose.

If you are comfortable opening your computer, do the following.

1) Unplug it from the wall.
2) Touch the case to ensure you don't have any static electricity on you.
3) Open the case.
4) Locate the hard drives, they will be near the front of the case.
5) Gently push on the wires coming out of the hard drives, just to make sure they're seated. This will not take too much force.
6) Close the case, plug the computer back in, and turn it on.
