My new 4K Vizio 60" M60-C3 started scrolling through input channels on it's own and after a minute would stop and "land" on an input, then I would have to change it to the correct one. Then the volume started "racing" to 100 making it impossible to watch. Vizio repairman came and replaced a small board about 1.5 in. x 5 in. and it is back working again. It fell within the 1 year warranty, so no charge, and he suggested I go back to Wal-Mart where I bought it and spend $59 on the extended warranty. I am certainly going to try and do that.
Try a hard reset first. If it do not help you, the main board to it is faulty. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset; and the other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.
Most of the time a good place to buy is on Amazon and Ebay but then a local store that deals with TV's and other electronics may or may not have it. Last time I needed something for my TV I fond it on Ebay.
Yes you can use Just the red, white and yellow cable from your dvd player to the tv....now make sure you have it connected correctly...sometimes its easy to confused the yellow and white connections. make sure your tv is turned to Input that you have used for connecting the cables on the back....such as...input 1...select input 1 on your tv....or if it says dvd...then select dvdv on yoru tv..You can use a HDMI cable...just plug HDMI from your dvd player to your tv and select HDMI on yoru tv..Good luck
The fat caps are a good sign of failure but not all are sealed well enough to allow them to swell; look carefully around the bases of the electrolytic capacitors; the weak links will mostly cylindrical packages mounted perpendicular to the circuit board, for traces of chemical contamination.
On fuses: they may not always be recognizable since the surface-mount types are small rectangles like many of the small value capacitors and most low-power resistors.
I've not found however, any board-mounted fuses that are not marked with "F" and a number such as "F2."
The way your set is acting, surely does sound like a defective power supply, but unless you are sufficiently knowledgeable to verify at least passive components, just replacing the PS may not make your set come back to life.
