My Nikon D1X has stopped

Sorry, there's no DIY fix for this. You have to consider getting a professional repair or replacing the camera.

Repairs are very likely to cost more than the camera is now worth.

My cool pix p80 keeps saying write protected

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. Slide it toward the contacts to enable write, away from the contacts to protect.

Does that help?

C-rem

Try a new battery - The D1 series will refuse to take pictures in this manner if power is low or inconsistent.

Nikon D1 - thin green line across image

There's a few things you can try to narrow down where the problem might lie. One thing you don't mention is if the green line is on the actual image, or only shows up on the LCD monitor.

If the line is in the actual image after transferring it to your computer, try formatting the memory card in the camera, or try a different card to see if the problem persists. If it only shows on the LCD, count yourself lucky because you can continue to use your camera, albeit with an annoyance to deal with.

However, it sounds to me as though you've got either a dead or hot pixel on the CCD which will cause problems in the adjacent pixels creating a "line". Take a look at this page and this page. Unfortunately, you will most likely need to send it in to Nikon for repairs.

Will not charge batt

I am sure you ave figured out what to do for this poblem but if not...I had this problem with a nikon I just purchased. The guy I bought it from said it was the battery charger, so I purchased a battery charger on ebay-"new nikon d1 battery charger" was the actual listing and it cost about $40.00. You can get the actuall charger that comes with it on ebay- but it cost alot more money. I recieved the product, tried it on my battery (which was suppose to be new) and it still would not charge. I took all my stuff (battery, new charger, old charger) to a local battery shop in town and they tested it all for me. Come to find out it was not the charger all along, it was the "new" battery- UGHH! The whole point to this story is this- if you have not aken your battery and charger to a battery shop yet- do that first. Then go from there. Like I said- you canget the charger on ebay- and the battery can be bought for about $36.00 too. I would not recommend buying both like I did! Good luck.

Card Error

I would first back up all the pictures on the card, and then while you have the memory card in the card reader re-format the card and put it back in the camera. If you are still having problems the electrical contacts on the inside on the camera may be dirty. Use some canned air and blast out anything that may be in there.

Eith you have not set the camera up correctly study thew manual - it is not unusual to have a black and white setting. If you are sure you have got it right Then contact Nikon - this is a CCD failure.

My 1 year old Nikon D7200 camera will not take a clear picture of Christmas lights unless I put it in mirror up position. .. why

By not clear do you mean out of focus or streaked due to movement? Try using a higher ISO setting in order to allow for a faster shutter speed and/or use a tripod.

Nikon Teleconverter

You could probably use either a 1.4 x or a 2 x, depending on how much you wanted to increase the focal length of your lens. A 1.4 x would give you a range of 98-420, a 2 x would give you a range of 140-600. Having said that, teleconverters are not usually recommended for use with zoom lenses, and you would lose one stop with the 1.4 x, two stops with the 2 x, thus necessitating longer exposures. Also, with the increase in focal length comes an increased probability of camera shake being more apparent, due to the increased magnification. In your position, I would attempt to get closer to the subject, using a teleconverter as a last resort if this is not possible.
