Software Issue
You don't need any special software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as WIndows Photo Gallery or
Picasa.

Uploading pictures from camera to computer
I would check Vivitar's website for a camera driver file you can download that would enable you to use it. Not sure what you mean by install file being locked. In general, I would upgrade to Windows XP (or Vista if your machine will support it, once they've gotten more bugs out). Windows ME is basically Windows 98 with some multimedia extensions, and not one of Microsoft's better efforts-it's also old, so not many updates will be forthcoming.

Hi,
I have trouble in understanding the manual on picture taking. I want to take various pictures for ebay. I will be taking some pictures close-up and others 3-5 feet away. Is there a simple way that everything on one setting. Thanks. Precious78
Uploaded pics to pc and now it wont turn on
First check batteries, because on Digital Cameras they go out pretty fast. So if you know for a fact it's not batteries, then also dust in a camera can jam it and cause it not to work simply open up and blow in it softly and add new batteries, if don't at first work try again.
