You need to replace Electrolytic Caps some on the PCB on the end of the CRT neck. and some in the MAIN PCB. Digikey is a good sources of parts and get the caps that are 105C. they last longer. There are other venders out there to.

Not sure what issue is: it turns on then quickly off?short in power supply or more commonly in the high voltage area---bad solder connections (age of set does not matter) are also very common.

If you checked your speaker and found it ok, but if there is no sound output from your Tv, you just connect a headphone to it whether your Tv has a provision for it. If you gets sound from the headphone, it means that your headphone socket is faulty; not bypassing the sound output to your TVs speaker.
If there is no output from the headphone also, your TVs sound output Ic inside has damaged. Open the Tv, locate it and resolder it out, go for a same type and number, replace it will solve the problem. Ok.
