You turn on the tv then it turns off right away

The repair of this unit will be determined by the status of the high voltage on initial power up. You need to do a few tests in order to narrow down what the high voltage is doing. You will need someone to assist you.

Unplug the AC cord. Remove the rear lower cover from the tv. Make sure the room is quiet. Put your ear inside the tv being careful not to touch anything metal, although most metal objects are ground. Next, have someone insert the cord into the AC outlet while listening very carefully. What you are supposed to hear is a click which is a relay and high voltage snap up. If you do not hear a swishing sound, which is the sound of high voltage have someone press the power button on the front while you are still listening. If you hear the swishing high voltage sound come on, it will come on and stay on, or collapse. Repeat the test, unplug the cord and plug in the cord to confirm the high voltage is coming on and staying on or coming on and going into collapse.

If the high voltage does not come up at all it means that there is a basic high voltage power supply problem and an experienced technician needs to guide you through a high level repair which is above the scope of this discussion. You may want to contact a skilled technician.

If the high voltage comes up and collapses right away, which is the most common fault, it means that the unit is entering the protection mode. The protection mode is most commonly caused by convergence or vertical sweep system on that model and big screens in general. These repairs can possibly be done by consumers with basic electronics knowledge. If you want to repond with test results we can supply more information on repairing the convergence or the vertical sweep system.

If the high voltage stays up then the likely fault is a power supply problem is muting both the video and the audio causing the unit to go into protect. Consult a service manual, track power flow though out the unit to determine which circuit is impaired.

When you change the convergence board you must do a complete factory alignment. If you have never done this, do not attempt it, call a svc. co. You won,t regret it. Just curious, why didn't you repair the original?
