This appears to be a CRT projection TV, is this affecting all other inputs?

TV needs repair. Circuits are detecting errors in startup levels.

If your data is stored in Windows based memory card then you can try this RecoveryFix for Windows data recovery software. You can download this software from here:

Thats a convergence failure. often you can replace the two Ics and associated resistors to repair the issue yourself instead of replacing the convergence board. But you can get the ICs and resistors from www.tvrepairworld.com which includes free tech support for help installing the parts. They also have circuit boards for most models available if you choose to replace the board instead of trying to repair it.

You will need to replace both convergence Ics and the pico fuses that blow when the Ics fail. You can get the replacement Ics and pico fuses from www.tvreairworld.com they also provide free tech support to help you install them

Pico Fuses are either Green or Yellow ,they are in many different circuits near STKs,and Startup Power Supply boards.
Encompass Parts Distribution sells Parts and Boards for this Model.
Most of the time their is 2 resistors that need to be replaced 3.9ohms located in front of ICs.
First just replace the ICs ,you might not need to do anything else.

Each convergence IC has a fusible link going to the IC. On the foil side of the board you will see the fuse size, usually 3.15a. Check both with an ohmmeter, like you would check a normal fuse. Replace the one that is open and that should take care of your problem. Good Luck.

The colors weren't lining up correctly on my HC-P4752W which is only about 30 months old. I did a little bit of research and got ahold of the people at http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/ They recommended replacing the IC's as well as the IC resistors. I purchased the replacement parts from their site and made the repairs myself. I should mention that I didn't have any previous soldering experience. The repair was easy and a complete success. You may find replacement parts elsewhere for slightly cheaper but what you won't find is the prompt and detailed customer service that they provide. They gave me there # and said to call if I had any questions before or during repair. I took advantage of their services and got answers every time I called.

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

there can be only two problems with this issue either the blue and green guns are out which leaves the red gun on or if it has a color wheel it stuck on the red reflector

Most of the time I see this problem on this model it is caused from the convergence chips going bad. Also there are a few resistors that open on the circuit board. To repair this you will need soldering/desoldering tools and test equipment. The only other thing that I've seen cause this was leaky gaskets around the picture tube coolant chamber. This usually causes major circuit board damage if left unchecked. The first problem can be repaired for usually 150-325 u.s. dollars but the coolant leakage problem sometimes is unrepairable.Good luck and let me know if I can be of further assistance. Russmann.

According to your model number, you do not have a color wheel in that set. Check your model number again and please re-post. I will answer it as soon as you post it.
