Have 57 " Toshiba projection TV there is way too much red in picture

TV has 3 CRTs, red, blue, green. Its possible that you have a bad blue or green crt. If that were the case the red would be prevalent and the pic would be reddish. The tv has a picture "level" adjustment that if done correctly could get it looking correct. Its probably best to have a tech. do it since you can make it worse if you do not know what you are doing, also there are high voltages present. Good luck

My toshiba 57 inch rear

THis could be one of the CRTs (Color Tubes) is bad or the high voltage is leaking somewhere.
Toshiba projection TVs have history of yoke problems.
My guess is one of the CRTs is arcing inside. This TV has 3 CRTs red, green and blue. Replacing a CRT is not easy or cheap to buy if you can find it. If you like this try calling a TV technician to track down the high voltage arcing. DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS BY YOURSELF.

Best of luck my friend.

Hello, I have a Toshiba

I am 100% sure that this is not an issue with the CRT board(the tiny board attached behind the CRT's in this case the blue CRT). The problem is usually caused due to failure of high value resistors 500K-ohm or higher. Do you have an ohom-meter and know how to use it? Do you know how to read resistor color-codes?

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem. If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured. You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

There are Horizontal waves on

You need to replace both convergence ICs These are the chips that basically build your picture. Not expensive and and easy repair. Very common on these sets.

dcramer531_68.jpgdcramer531_69.jpg

Convergence" in terms of television describes when the three projectors in a TV that produce color fall out of sync with each other. You'll know a TV with bad convergence when you see it--colors aren't meshing and are represented as thick lines, and everything seems blurry. Adjusting the convergence on a Toshiba television isn't difficult; there is a setting in the menu that you can calibrate. When that doesn't correct the issue, fixing the convergence on a Toshiba television can be quite a bit harder.

  1. Disconnect your television from all peripheral devices (DVD players, cable boxes) and the wall. Move your TV out from the wall far enough where you'll have room to move around, and remove the back panel.

  2. Find the PC board. This is the device containing all the components that tell your TV how to operate, and it looks very similar to a standard motherboard found on a personal computer.

  3. Locate the convergence chips. There will be two of them, and they'll be plugged into sockets and screwed securely into place on the PC board. Unscrew them from the board and pull them off.

  4. Put your new convergence chips in the slots where the old ones were found. Depending on your model of Toshiba television, this may require some soldering to get them in place. Screw them securely onto the PC board using the screw from the old chips.

  5. Put the back panel back onto the TV. Once you've replaced the convergence chips, you can now move your TV back against the wall, turn it on and calibrate your convergence chips using the on-screen directions through your TV's main menu.

Our theatre wide Toshiba picture will not stay

Hello,

You need to troubleshoot first on order to know precisely what the cause of the problem is.

The problem is either from the video cord if you are using a cable receiver or from the picture card/board of the TV. Your connecting cable between the TV and other appliances such as DVD player, Cable receiver, etc, may be defective or loosing contact. Maybe that's why it comes sometimes and go back.

Connect the TV to a DVD player using a different cable. If there is still no picture, then it means the picture board or card of your TV is defective and needs to be replaced.

But if there is still no picture after testing with a DVD player,
then it means the problem has to be from the picture board of your TV. I think its defective and need to be replaced.

walesarumi_28.jpgwalesarumi_27.jpgwalesarumi_4.png

The above pictures are what the display or picture board looks like. This is what you need to check on the TV. If you know about electronics repairs, you can make necessary replacement. Or if you are not 100% sure, you can call a family or friend that you feel has an idea to help you out (Two heads are better that one).

You might end up taking it to a repairman if you cannot do this yourself.

Note that TV stores a lot of current which can cause electric shock even when it is not powered on.

Good luck.

Trying to reprogram my toshiba tv into the dish

Hello!!! You may have already found the correct code by now, but I do have some steps here that can help you out if you haven't, or if you have another remote and tv you would like to program in the future. The link below will walk you through a power scan, where the remote will scan the codes on the tv for the correct one for the remote. It sounds like a long process, but it is actually very quick and efficient!
http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/power-scan-instructions

I also added a link (below) which walks you through programming the remote to the tv using codes instead of the power scan. Both are equally efficient. I wanted you to have access to all of the codes as well, in case you did not like the idea of the power scan.

Without any warning my tv started turning itself

That is usually a sign that the bulb needs to be replaced this only occurs on projection TV's you might look into a new TV because the prices are better and so is the picture and a new bulb is going to run you a few hundred dollars plus labor. I had this happen a couple years ago with a mitsubishi i owned the bulb was $300 and the labor 75 for a couple hundred more i got a new one instead but mine was a 42"

Is the tuner built-in ATSC, or NTSC?

Your tv tuner is set to function on both NTSC and ATSC. See below for the reference

NTSC (National Television System Committee) is the analog television broadcasting standard used widely in North America. It is referred to as a 525-line standard, but actually displays only 480 lines. NTSC is to be replaced with new DTV (Digital TV) standards in the coming years.

ATSC (Advanced Television Standards Committee) creates the technical standards for the US digital television system (DTV). These standards are expected to be used in most new televisions, as the US television system shifts from analog to digital.

Picture flutters vertically

Many of these sets (57H84 etc) had a problem with the "Hyper" board.

It is a circuit in the set that processes all signal from the tuners, and all inputs.

Most of the time this problem shows up when the set is first turned on and after several minutes the picture goes to normal----the delay if you have this problem slowly gets longer and longer.

The hyper board is NO LONGER AVAILABLE-and the only way to correct it is remove it and send it out for rebuild.

There are about a dozen very small "surface mounted filter caps" on the board that dry out and cause the problem.

2 people with this problem were able to remove the board and replace all the tiny caps but IT IS NOT EASY AND NOT A TASK for a do it yourself person unless you have some real skill.

The problem usually looks like noise lines from left to right across the whole or part of the screen---if it started gradually---it is a bad Hyper board.

Let me know by responding with a comment if you need help or advise.

Have 57H83 picture goes in and out from great to

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Will not power on.

Your blinking red power light is indicating a problem with the set. It has read an error code. With my experiance with Toshiba I found that a dead set or blinking red light can be a whole bunch of diffent conditions. One common problem though, and I would check this first, is your convergence circut. It is very common that the the convergence IC's themselves and or some resisters in that circut have failed. Also check all the pico fuses on the power and sub power supply's. Hope this helps and good luck
