I just got a factory refurbished Toshiba 57H84 rear projection tv. I got it home out of the box, pluged it in and it wont power up, no picture no sound nothing. The power indicator just flashes continously with no breaks or pauses. Did I miss a step in setup. Ive been through the manual 3 times and cant find anything that I missed. Thanks. Nic
Your blinking red power light is indicating a problem with the set. It has read an error code. With my experiance with Toshiba I found that a dead set or blinking red light can be a whole bunch of diffent conditions. One common problem though, and I would check this first, is your convergence circut. It is very common that the the convergence IC's themselves and or some resisters in that circut have failed. Also check all the pico fuses on the power and sub power supply's. Hope this helps and good luck

Sorry i dont have any answers for you'r problem. I'm actually having the same problem with my 57H84 (though it says 94 on the back of the unit itself). Have you found out anything pertaining to the problem. I'm trying to learn more about the problem before just blindly taking it to the shop..i LOVE THIS TV and i've had it new for two years now.

Yes actually I got mine fixed. It turned out that there was a bad diod (sp?) on one of the boards inside the TV. If your toshiba is doing what mine was, thats an indication that there is something wrong internally with the TV and it will have to be repaired. Good luck getting it going!
My screen turns blue and then the Television just shuts off! Could it be a fuse?
same problem here. Blue screen (with added burned dot in the middle), then it shuts off. It started doing it periodically, now it does it all the time and won't work at all.
