Did the reset and nothing
You need the remote control to turn the subwoofer on and off. There are no controls on the subwoofer. This is the most ridiculous design ever.
Anyway, on the RC-AAR02 remote, press the "Manual Select" in the upper right corner. You'll see "SUBWOOFER OFF" on the display. Then, use the tuner up/down ON THE RECEIVER (not the remote) to turn the sub on. Confounded? Yes.
Clock
Turn the receiver on, then press the little button in the remote that says "Shift" with blue letters , then press button with number 2 in it. If you notice it also says "clock" in blue letters. Hold Shift and clock with the receiver on then use the multijog dial, the big round thing in the middle, and set the time.
Sound problem
I'm fairly certain this is a cable signal issue... I have had my digital audio cut in and out and the cable company traced it to a weak signal and replaced the cabling. No issues since.
Just an FYI, my setup is a Sony 6.1 with an Optical cable. There is a Blue Light indicator for Surround and when I had the problem, the receiver's light would go off and the display "blinked."
Won't Power On...
Hello degaff,
This is what I would do to try to determine the problem:
1. Disconnect everything from the receiver. The only thing connected should be the power cord. Make sure the power cord is disconnected from power for at least 30 minutes in order to reset the internal electronic software.
2. Then, power it up - still nothing else connected. If it powers up normally and "looks" like it is going to work, then turn it off and connect only the right speaker to its amplifier and try again. If it still looks normal, then turn it off and connect the DVD or CD player and run some music through that speaker. If it still looks normal, then shut it off and connect the left speaker, etc... In other words go one-by-one in checking it out.
3. If it does NOT power up after step ONE, then there is a problem internally. If it powers up only to shut down again, there is still a hardware problem internally. The usual cause is shorted output transistors. And the normal cause of shorted outputs is a short on the speaker line, a short inside one of the speakers or overdriving the amplifier for too long a period of time.
If the outputs need replaced, then it will cost an arm and a leg to get them repaired, and you are better off replacing the unit.
The clicking sound, by the way, is the power relay which turns the power transformer on. And if there are faults in the amp, speakers or wiring, the protection circuit shuts the relay off; that is the clicking sound you hear.
Please let us know how this works, and if we can help you any further.

Aiwa Z-L700 cassette player will not work but CD player is fine. Is there a simple solution please?
The complexity of the solution depends on the problem. The drive belt or pinch roller may be worn or have a hardened surface. If the tape doesn't turn at all or only very slowly in any function, verify that the tape drive motor is running and that the belt is turning the pulley(s). If the tape tends to tangle up, check the pinch roller. Sometimes cleaning the roller with a cotton swab dampened with rubbing alcohol will work, but if it's too hardened, you'll need to use rubber conditioner or replace it.
If nothing at all happens when you select the tape function, there may be an electrical problem such as a dirty contact on the function switch or a broken wire in the tape mechanism.
This is far from a comprehensive repair guide; it only covers the most common issues other than broken plastic parts. "Will not work" is too general to provide more than that. Cleaning the pinch roller and its drive pin can be done through an open cassette door; everything else most likely requires taking stuff apart, observing operation and perhaps making voltage measurements.
