Remove the new cartridge and check that the holder has not broken. When the lever is moved it should squeeze the holder together. If this is all ok then clean the gold contacts in the holder with a damp cotton bud. If this all fails then its just possible the new cartridge is a bad one and needs exchanging for a good one.

yeah in that case it seems that scanner gone faulty, needs repair. these kind of problem occurs if the machine kept idle for a long time.

Remove cover for paper, and you will be able to see the two small rollers on plastic axis. Clean them. ( each side, but when you turn them manually, put it back in first position )

It could be bad crg.,or pcb oh head carriagge . Buy normal laser fax.

look at the doc feeder tray and there should be an icon that indicates which way, if the icon/picture has a corner folded with print/lines,then it is face down, if the oter way around it is face up

waste ink absorbers are in the bottom of mch. after time they get full by cleaning of the printhead.

Your SCANNER UNIT has failed, very expensive to fix.

press function then data registration and then #,go with the arrow up to clear and press ok!go with the arrow up to all and ok!Good Luck!

they have the 2 parts that hold the cartridge in place with pictures so you can tell which ones you need. You can just search for B640 and it will list all the parts they have or the 2 parts you may need are their part# E7393 and E7392 as I have replaced these before for my customers.

The Canon B640 uses an ink cartridge/printhead assembly. There is no Drum just the BX-3 bubblejet ink. Could it be possible that you have the model number wrong?

If so, note the proper model number and purchase a new Drum from a reputable local office equipment dealer. The directions enclosed with the drum should help you with installation of it. It's a good idea to have your local dealer clean the machine at least once a year. If you buy the drum from them while it's in for service, they could install it for you.

Switch the machine off,remove the document and plain paper tray,at the intake of the plain paper parth there is two gray rollers,Clean them with a strong soap sullution,just make sure the main board dont get wet.

NEEDS A SEPARATION PAD AND A BUSHING.IT IS NOT A EASY FIX

The scanner lamp is not working. When making a copy, the lamp lights the source document, so if there is no light, the source document 'looks' black. Your machine will need to be serviced.

The ink cartridge holder was kind of wiggly, so I put a wedge in the side to push the contacts together more. It worked.
