This model uses a single convergence chip---STK-393-110.

If you go into the customer menu and select CONVERGENCE--look to see if red or blue will NOT move in some direction----if so the chip is bad.

The part can be purchased on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping but the real problem is getting at it to replace it---if you are able to do this yourself you can save the set and also a lot of money---most shops will charge 300-400 for this type of repair.

Clearly, I do not know if you have the skill to do this but if you do I can tell you exactly how to do it.

If you do not have the skill (part is soldered in and the center circuit board it is mounted on would have to be removed from the set for this repair) shop around your area---if they say it "has to go to the shop" keep looking as any good tech can do this repair right in your home in about 1 hour-----I know as I have done hundreds of them here and charge 200-250 total for a in home repair like this.

Once the chip has been replaced and the set adjusted you will not have this problem again for 5-8 years----

If you need help or have any questions let me know---I am here to help people.

Regards, SD TECH

We had a similar problem with our Toshiba. It turned out to be that the mercury bulb was toast. Open the owner's manual & look in the Troubleshooting section. The blinking for us was indicitive of a bad bulb. Sure enough, we took it out & it was obviously cooked. Don't buy from a local store, buy it online. You'll save between $30-100 & our "cheaper" bulb has been working for 2 years. Hope this helps!

Blinking grenn light want come on.

you have a bad digital module, when it is bad you get a constant flashing light that won't quit, if you have some skills, remove the digital module, replace all of the 1000 micrfarad at 16 volt capacitors with 1000 mf at 25v, or 680mf at 25v, this will fix your problem. you probably need a qualified tv repairman to fix this.

Stays on for 2 seconds and switches off

The convergence amplifiers need to be replaced.
This set may have one big amplfier chip rather than two.
The chip(s) will be on a big aluminum heatsink.
There may be bad resistors related to these chips, as well as one or two fuses that are open.
I've replace many convergence amplifiers.
If you have good soldering skills and ac test fuses and resistors, you can do the repair yourself. Caution that even with the set unplugged, there could still be dangerous voltages present on some components.
Search this site for specific convergence repair related to your set.

Rapid flashing light and now power-up after power outage

Replacing those capacitors usually solves the problem however sometimes the issue is back in the power supply. Make sure the 12 volts be supplied to the DM module is present. If not you'll need to fix the power supply.

A 2-2 code on that unit means over current shutdown. 95% of the time that code indicates defective convergence output IC's.

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Tv won't start

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1Theinternal circuits are jammed because of electrostaticcharges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage readby the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started theprotection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrongvoltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in, starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
