It is a heat problem with a comb filter that is saldered on the mother board. My neighbor bought the part after it fail with-in warranty the 1st time and it took a GREAT TV repair shop to come in take the mother board out and bring back to the shop. Close to $200 to fix.

Horizontal lines on LG TV

I hate to give you bad news but about 90% of the time horizontal lines come from a bad panel and if that's the case the set isn't worth fixing as a panel costs hundreds of dollars

My SAMSUNG PPM42M6H screen has horizontal grainy lines at the top of screen measuring about 7 inches and from right to left. Lower half seems OK. What should be done or replaced?

Check the ribbon cables in side the TV that connect to the panel. They are the left side looking at the back. Make sure they are all seated propporly. If that does not fix, then your Upper Y Buffer board needs to be replaced.

Screen is red with lines when channel is changed

If its a kp-51hw40 : go to an unused video input and look at the screen---if it is redish in the background with curved faint trace lines you have one of two things wrong; First: the red "screen" control may be set too high. Second: you may have a problem with the RED picture tube.

To try to adjust the RED screen down you have to remove the entire front grill plate on the front of the TV(some have screws on the back on either side that have to be removed---and then you should be able to pop it out. Behind it there is a masonite inspection plate held in with screws----Once you have that off look for a SMALL SQUARE BLACK PLASTIC BLOCK; it has 6 black adjustable controls---you have to use a flashlight and look carefully---one row left to right will be marked FOCUS--DON'T TOUCH THOSE---THE OTHER ROW left to right will be marked SCREEN; if you look carefully you will see marked by each r (red) g (Green) b (blue)
you want to locate the RED SCREEN CONTROL.

WITH the set still on a blank video input where you can see it clearly turn the RED Screen Control to the left until the lines and red tint go away---do this slowly and make sure you are adjusting the RED screen--not the FOCUS.

IF this has been helpful give me a vote here as I do this for free; yesterday I adjusted one of these in a home that was blue with the faint lines---about 15 minute job for me.

Red shadows of words on screen of projection TV

you have to go into the menue, and go under video settings, under advanced, then into convergence, when you get the white lines all over the screen, follow the directions and adjust the red so it lines back up, other wise , take the front bottom panel off the tv, look for the 6 little nobs, look at the ones on the left, they should agjust the red, thrn the top one untill the red is focused back in.

Horizontal 'pinstripe' lines on all channels

sound like the screen control on the flyback is set just a little too high. the flyback has the red wire attached to the tube. the flyback has 2 small adjustable controls. if you look close enough 1 is marked focus & on is screen. turn the screen slightly to the left & look at your picture. the screen is like a master brightness & if it's up too high you will see what is called retrace lines. good luck.
